Thunder Frosted White Dry - Extra Strong & Ultra Strong. Reviews. 5 November 2014.

I reviewed Offroad Frosted White Dry a month or so ago and figured that V2 would be releasing more "White Dry" portions.  The Frosted brand name is growing - in the past I've written about Offroad Frosted, Offroad Frosted White Dry, Thunder Frosted Christmas, Thunder Frosted Extra Strong Original Portion, Thunder Frosted Los, Thunder Frosted Long+, Thunder Frosted Mini+, Thunder Frosted Ultra Strong, and Thunder Frosted Ultra Strong White.  There are definitely a lot of "Frosted" products in the V2 lineup.

In my review of Offroad Frosted White Dry, I talked a little about the difference in a "white dry" snus. It is a "dry" version of Offroad Frosted, produced in the same way but without any moisture added. The nicotine absorbs into the blood slower than usual until the portion is completely moist, then it will work much like a regular original portion does.  Also, when people are taxed by weight in their snus orders, taking some of the moisture out of the snus is a way to help people save money.  You can see in the picture to the left the difference in products.  The snus on the far left is a regular Offroad White Portion.  The snus is more "clumpy" and moist, whereas the Frosted White Dry products are more dry and finely ground and don't stick together as much.  If you add moisture to these products yourself, they would look a lot like the product to the far left.

The product description for Frosted Extra Strong White Dry says, "Thunder Frosted White Dry Extra Strong - strongly reduced moisture and therefore lower weight - but full flavor and hit! Only 18% moisture - resulting in a 27 mg/g nicotine content. "Frosted" is the most popular snus flavor there is!"  I know that nicotine content may be intimidating, so let me break it down.

Nicotine - 27 mg/g
18 portions
11.7 gram can can weight
Each Portion - 0.65 gram
Nicotine Per Portion - 17.55 mg/portion

So it's not quite 27mg/g of nicotine, it's closer to 18mg/g of nicotine.  When you open a can of Thunder Frosted White Dry Extra Strong, the aroma that comes through is a strong, fresh smell of spearmint.  The portions are a little dry so they aren't extremely comfortable at first, but once they get more moist they feel better in the lip.  There's a nice cooling sensation that comes on and the spearmint flavor is mild at first, but grows the longer you have the portion in your mouth.  It doesn't get as strong in flavor as regular Thunder Frosted, but the flavor is still very good! One thing I really like about these white dry portions is how long you can use them. I was able to keep a portion in for up to an hour and a half and still have the flavor of the snus remain.

When it comes to Thunder Frosted White Dry Ultra Strong, the product description says, "Thunder Frosted White Dry Ultra - strongly reduced moisture and therefore lower weight - but full flavor and hit! Only 18% moisture - resulting in a 42 mg/g nicotine content... do you dare? "Frosted" is the most popular snus flavor there is!" I know that nicotine content sounds intimidating, so allow me to break it down.

Nicotine - 42mg/g
18 portions per can
11.7 gram can weight
Each Portion - 0.65 gram
Nicotine Per Portion - 27.3 mg/portion

Regular Thunder Ultra Strong snus comes in at 21mg/g, so this one being 27.3 mg/portion makes this the strongest snus on the market.  When you open a can of Thunder Frosted White Dry Ultra Strong, the spearmint aroma is more sharp and present than in the Extra Strong Frosted.  Being a white dry, as the portion becomes more moist it gets more comfortable in the lip.  This snus has a nice little tingle and cooling sensation that comes on pretty quick.  The spearmint flavor is mild at first, but as the portion gets more moist it builds and becomes more present.  This snus is strong.  I don't do a lot of strong portions so for the portions of this one I reviewed I kept them in for about 30 minutes before I had to take them out.  If you enjoy strong snuses I would assume you can keep it in longer.  But this one definitely made my head spin, hella strong stuff.

If you like spearmint and white portions, I'd definitely suggest giving these a try.  I like the way the flavor develops, it allows you to enjoy the snus a lot longer than regular white portions.  Also, if you're somewhere where snus is taxed based on weight, this is a great way to save money!
