Offroad Gold (White Dry) - Review (Discontinued). 11 April 2015.

This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

I've been enjoying the Offroad White Dry line lately, particularly Offroad Silver White Dry, so I was very excited to hear that the new Offroad Gold was going to have a white dry version released. As I mentioned in my review of Offroad Gold (Original Portion), I could tell V2 has been excited about this release.

The product description says, "Offroad Gold is a classic style Swedish Snus. It has a traditional full tobacco character beautifully balanced with hints of citrus. A taste that lies deeply grounded in the soul of Sweden and reminds us how true snus should be and taste. Offroad Gold offers a no compromise classical snus experience."

I don't usually talk much about can design, but the can design of this new product is super classy.

If you're unfamiliar with White Dry snus, I'll explain it further. When I spoke with V2 about their White Dry products, they explained it to me a little further. It is a "dry" version of Offroad Snus, produced in the same way but without any moisture added. The nicotine absorbs into the blood slower than usual until the portion is completely moist, then it will work much like a regular original portion does.  When snus is taxed by weight, it saves money to sell snus in the white dry format because the added moisture doesn't add to the cost.  Another thing I like about white dry is how long the portions last.  I've been able to keep these types of portions in for up to two hours, which is another great way to save money if you prefer value priced snus.

When you open a can of Offroad Gold White Dry, the aroma that comes through is a very present aroma of citrus with a mild hint of pepper in the background.  The taste develops slowly, with a mild pepper taste and a mild bergamot taste mingling, and as the portion becomes more moist, the flavor comes on a lot more strong.  The bergamot flavor develops to be more present, with a mild taste of tobacco in the background and a little hint of pepper.  The citrus flavor is light and airy, it's not overbearing by any means, but I find it balances quite well with the tobacco and pepper notes.  This isn't a General clone, and if I had to compare this to anything I would say it reminds me a lot of Oden's 69 (White Dry).

I don't know of any places selling this online to the US yet, but I know Snus Bolaget has it. It's listed at 23kr which is about 2.60$ USD. It's a value priced snus, but it delivers a more than value priced flavor. So if you're wanting to save some money but not sacrifice flavor for cost, this is definitely one you should check out.
