Small Batch 16 (Old Fashioned) White Portion - Review. 8 August 2020.

Today, we're going to be taking about the latest release in the Small Batch series - Small Batch No16, Old Fashioned. This is a snus with a taste of bourbon! I can't say for sure, but I imagine the popularity of my Snubie X MOS Bourbon Vanilla may have been an inspiration for Swedish Match to explore the bourbon flavor. Probably not, but that's what I'm telling myself.  If you're new to Small Batch, this is how Swedish Match describes it: "We at Swedish Match have produced thousands of products over the course of a few hundred years. Our experts are experts in the correct sense of the word. But they have not been tired of developing new ideas. In order for them to get that opportunity - and for Swedish snusers to be able to share it all - we now launch a new range of products called Small Batch, where the flavor is replaced several times a year. Each flavor is produced in a small edition."

The flavor description for this one says, "Small Batch Old Fashioned has a taste of dark, juicy tobacco with clear hints of bourbon, orange and cocktail bitters with shades of vanilla and brown sugar. It is a combination of flavors we recognize well from the cocktail world."  Each can comes with 24 white portions in the star formation, weighing 1 gram each.  The nicotine content isn't published, but I'd assume it's in the regular strength to strong range.

When you open the can, you’ll notice the orange right up front. It’s accompanied by a presence of dark tobacco, and a hint of bourbon. It’s not overly boozy smelling, that’s for sure. The portions are soft to the touch, and comfortable under the lip. They come in the star formation, so I do suggest fluffing them before you put one in. When it comes to the flavor, I notice a rich, dark, chocolatey tobacco taste right up front. It’s accompanied by clear notes of orange, and hints of bourbon. It’s not boozy or cheap tasting, in the bourbon department. The nicotine strength on this one feels to be about the regular strength level, and the flavor lasts about 45-50 minutes on average.  Of all the Small Batch products I've had so far, this one ranks at number 12 for me.  It was pretty tasty, but I'm not a bourbon guy so it wasn't a favorite or anything.

Below, you can find a list of all the Small Batch flavors we've had so far, and see my rankings for the entire series.
