I originally reviewed 8 flavors of Epok Snus back in February of 2015. I put them all into one article because I wasn't sure if these products would be sticking around long or not. When I originally reviewed the previous 3 products from Epok, I didn't have very high hopes for their new offerings. I previously reviewed Epok Breeze, Epok Pinje and Epok Original, but I wasn't too impressed with those flavors. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the new offerings from Epok! When it comes to Epok Kaffe, the product description says, "Epok Coffee Swedish Portion snus with ~ 90 % less additives, comes with a taste of tobacco and ground coffebeans with cream. Same nicotine delivery as "brown snus". Does not require refrigeration. Does not cause teeth discoloration."
For those who are just now hearing about Epok for the first time, you may be asking yourself what "white tobacco" is. Epok says, "White tobacco produced in a patented, environmentally friendly process that gently cleanses and refines brown tobacco. In the process, minimizing unwanted substances, such as heavy metals and nitrosamines. The feeling under the lip, nicotine strength and flavor experience is the same as in plain brown pouch - but without the snus runs or color your teeth. White tobacco contains white tobacco, nicotine, water, stabilizer and flavoring agents. White tobacco produced by pure brown tobacco in a water-based process, leaving the tobacco is clean of all unwanted substances. White tobacco contains no natural sugar. In contrast, added sweetener xylitol as flavoring."
Coffee is an interesting flavor when it comes to snus. There really haven't been many products to approach the coffee flavor. The only one still produced is Olde Ving 99 from GN Tobacco, which actually has a pretty decent flavor. In the past, V2 Tobacco made Offroad Coffee Vanilla, which I wasn't a big fan of. I was a part of the "Heisenberg" group that V2 Tobacco put together to test and develop the flavor of Thunder Coffee Supreme and Offroad Coffee Supreme which were both fantastic, but now are unfortunately discontinued. Coffee is a hard flavor to nail down when it comes to snus. When you open a can of Epok Kaffe, the aroma that comes through is a very distinct French Roast coffee smell. I couldn't even detect the white tobacco aroma, the coffee smell completely overpowered it. These portions are the long/slim format. When it comes to the flavor, the white tobacco flavor is present mildly, but the coffee taste is front and center. It's a dark, French Roast type coffee taste with a mild bitterness to it. It's not bad, but not spectacular by any means. I'm not the biggest fan of coffee flavored snus, I don't even drink coffee. I can say objectively though that it isn't too bad - so if you're a coffee person this would be one you might want to grab a can of and try.
