Epok Enbar (Juniper) - Review (Discontinued). 20 June 2016.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

I originally reviewed 8 flavors of Epok Snus back in February of 2015. I put them all into one article because I wasn't sure if these products would be sticking around long or not. When I originally reviewed the previous 3 products from Epok, I didn't have very high hopes for their new offerings. I previously reviewed Epok Breeze, Epok Pinje and Epok Original, but I wasn't too impressed with those flavors.  However, I was pleasantly surprised with the new offerings from Epok! When it comes to Epok Enbar, the product description says, "Epok Juniper White Snus is described as "complex and multi-faceted base of tobacco coupled with dried fruits and topped off with Swedish juniper berries."

For those who are just now hearing about Epok for the first time, you may be asking yourself what "white tobacco" is. Epok says, "White tobacco produced in a patented, environmentally friendly process that gently cleanses and refines brown tobacco. In the process, minimizing unwanted substances, such as heavy metals and nitrosamines. The feeling under the lip, nicotine strength and flavor experience is the same as in plain brown pouch - but without the snus runs or color your teeth. White tobacco contains white tobacco, nicotine, water, stabilizer and flavoring agents. White tobacco produced by pure brown tobacco in a water-based process, leaving the tobacco is clean of all unwanted substances. White tobacco contains no natural sugar. In contrast, added sweetener xylitol as flavoring."

I recently did a review of Knox Blue (White Portion) and remarked that there aren't many juniper flavored snus products out there. With the exception of Knox Blue, Phantom Blue, LD Enbar Vit and Goteborg's Rape, the juniper flavor is not very well represented in the snus world.  It seems that trend is changing and more companies are exploring this flavor.  It makes sense with this product line that Epok would launch one, as well.  When you open a can of Epok Enbar, the aroma that is most present is that of the "clean"/washed tobacco.  There are very mild notes of juniper and herbs in the background.  Unlike Blueberry, these portions are regular sized snus pouches.  I was able to fluff these without them breaking.  The taste of the juniper comes out first, and has a very slight herbal taste in the background.  The flavor of the white tobacco is very much present but it mixes pretty well with the juniper/herbal notes in the snus.  Is this one as good as Goteborg's Rape?  No, because it's a different product - it's hard to compare.  But if you're a fan of the washed/clean/white tobacco, this one isn't too bad in the taste category.
