On! Plus (Nicotine Pouches) - Review. 20 May 2025.

Today, we have something new and interesting to check out.  This is On! Plus.  Well, new-ish.  I had the Citrus one back in May of 2024 but I never wrote a review of it.  It's been around in Sweden for a while, but recently news came out that they're wanting to bring it to the US, so I figured it was time to do a review.  It make sense that Altria would want to "upgrade" ON! in the US.  BAT recently did it with Velo.  They launched the mini dry Velo in the US in 2021, then upgraded it to Velo Plus in 2024.  Velo Plus is much better, so it stands to reason that people will like On! Plus much more when it launches here in the US!  Before we get into the review, I want to mention that this line comes in several strengths, and I have quite a few of them today to check out.  Their "Regular"/2 dots is 6mg/pouch.  Their "Strong"/3 dots is 9mg/pouch.  Their "Extra Strong"/4 dots is 11mg/pouch.  It stands to reason they may do a light strength at one point with one dot, but as of now I don't see one anywhere.

On! Plus has what is called the "Flex Tech".  The pitch for it says "FlexTech is the material in on!®PLUS that makes the nicotine pouch elastic. It is made of a soft material and does not have the traditional welded ends".  To me, it feels like pantyhose in terms of the material.  And yes, it stretches.  It'll go back to it's original size after stretching it, but if you stretch it a bit further, you'll notice the pouch will grow to be a little longer.  It's a pretty interesting concept.  I'm not sure who it's for, or why they went this way, but it does exist.  To describe the pouch, it's actually pretty nice.  It's incredible soft and feels great under the lip.  It doesn't bother my gum at all, and has a nice release of flavor to it.  I think it'll be quite popular whenever this format launches in the US.  Next, I'm going to try to upload a GIF to this article of it stretching so you can see what that looks like.

Here is a GIF of the FlexTech.  Not sure if it'll work or not, I've never used a GIF in my reviews before, but I'm going to put it in this article anyway.  Sorry if it doesn't work!  If it does play, stops, and you want to see it again, just reload this page!

ON! Plus Watermelon Mint

Flavor Description:  "Flavor of watermelon combined with mint".
Can Contents:  14.3g, 20 pouches, with each pouch weighing 0.714 grams each
Nicotine Strength (Regular):  6mg/pouch

My Review:  Opening the can, the aroma that comes through is is a mild, pleasant aroma of melon with a very slight touch of mint to it.  The flavor is also gentle.  It's not weak, but it's not bold.  The melon and mint combination is nice.  It's sweet, but not overbearingly so.  The nicotine strength on this one is pretty light, but still noticeable.  The flavor lasts a solid 30-40 minutes.

ON! Plus Raspberry Lemon

Flavor Description:  "Flavor of raspberry combined with lemon".
Can Contents:  14.3g, 20 pouches, with each pouch weighing 0.714 grams each
Nicotine Strength (Strong):  9mg/pouch
Nicotine Strength (Extra Strong):  11mg/pouch

My Review:  Their raspberry lemon one has a beautiful aroma to it.  The raspberry is quite present when you open the can, and has just a little hint of lemon to it.  In the flavor profile, it's not as present as the aroma, but comes across in a nice way.  It's a pretty well balanced character of raspberry and lemon!  The flavor lasts a solid 30-40 minutes.  In the strengths, I found the strong one the most enjoyable, feeling to be about the regular strength level.  The extra strong one was just a little above that, and had a solid nicotine kick to it.

ON! Plus Smooth Mint

Flavor Description:  "Balanced mint flavor".
Can Contents:  14.3g, 20 pouches, with each pouch weighing 0.714 grams each
Nicotine Strength (Strong):  9mg/pouch

My Review:  In the aroma, this one has a pretty pure, smooth, gentle aroma of peppermint.  It's not overly sweet, which is pretty refreshing to encounter.  In the flavor profile, I think people will enjoy this mint taste.  It's very smooth, and not mega sweet.  The peppermint flavor is mild, and gentle.  The nicotine level is satisfactory, and feels to be about the regular level.  The flavor lasts about 30-40 minutes, on average.

ON! Plus Citrus

Flavor Description:  "Flavor of grapefruit, lime and citrus".
Can Contents:  14.3g, 20 pouches, with each pouch weighing 0.714 grams each
Nicotine Strength (Strong):  9mg/pouch

My Review:  I was nervous about this one, especially if it's coming to the US.  I'm a big fan of citrus flavors, but none of the pouches in the US have really got it right just yet.  This one being developed for Sweden, however, gives me high hopes.  In the aroma, I pick up a present aroma of lemon up front, along with a little lime right behind it.  It's tart, and not super sweet.  In the flavor profile, it's quite nice.  The lemon/lime balance is really nice.  It's present, tart, and not overly sweet.  In the nicotine area, this one feels about regular level.  The flavor lasts a solid 30-40 minutes on average.

ON! Plus Berry

Flavor Description:  "Red berry flavor combined with an undertone of currant and wild berries".
Can Contents:  14.3g, 20 pouches, with each pouch weighing 0.714 grams each
Nicotine Strength (Strong):  9mg/pouch

My Review:  This one has a beautiful aroma.  It seems like a mix of raspberry with perhaps a little grape.  It's slightly sweet in nature.  The flavor is really nice.  It's a present, lightly sweet taste of berry.  To me it seems like a little raspberry, perhaps a little strawberry, and some grape.  It's pleasant, and gentle.  The nicotine strength feels about the regular level.  The flavor, as with the others, lasts about 30-40 minutes.

Rating and Final Thoughts

Looking back over my Velo Plus scores, they ranged from 2.96-3.46.  These range from 3.25-3.58.  That gives Velo Plus an average score of 3.21, and On! Plus an average score of 3.40.  It seems as though On! Plus did slightly better for me.  Berry and Citrus came out on top at 3.58/5.  This citrus version is much better than Velo Plus's citrus version.  Raspberry Lemon Strong at 3.42/5 and Raspberry Lemon Extra Strong at 3.33/5.  Behind that, Watermelon Mint at 3.25/5, and Smooth Mint tied at 3.25/5 as well.

I'm not sure which flavors are coming to the US, or if they'll be direct translations of these or not.  As many of you may know, US Velo Plus is not entirely the same as Velo sold in Europe.  European Velo is slightly better than US Velo Plus, so we'll see what comes of the US version.  But, for those who buy online and want to try these out, On! Plus is pretty solid!
