Velo Plus (US Market) Nicotine Pouches - Review. 6 January 2025.

I was recently traveling, and finally stumbled across the Velo Plus series.  I bought all of them that the store had.  They came in two strengths, so I just mixed and matched.  As I have readers all over the world, I'll explain.  This is not an EU Velo product, this is one designed for the US market.  Also, it's not the same as the mini/dry Velo that launched in the US back in 2021.  This is a much better quality version.  There is also a Dragon Fruit flavor of this one, but from what I've heard it's exclusive to certain store for the next few months.  But, once it's available here I'll write a review of it.  All of these products come in a 10.6g can with 20 pouches, weighing 0.53g each.  The pouches are quite nice, and way better than the dry mini Velo.  They feel great under the lip, have a nice moisture amount, and a solid release of flavor and nicotine.  The nicotine strengths are 6mg and 9mg.  I found the 6mg one to be pretty light, but the 9mg one was more satisfying, feeling closer to the regular strength level.  Now, let's get into the reviews and see how these taste!

Velo Plus Wintergreen

Flavor Description:  "A creamy, subtly sweet, full-bodied mint flavor"

Review:  Opening the can, the aroma that comes through is a mild aroma of wintergreen with a slightly minty tone to it.  In the flavor profile, it's kind of a minty wintergreen taste.  It's lightly sweet, and reminds me of a wintergreen Tic Tac or Lifesaver.

Velo Plus Spearmint

Flavor Description:  "A bright mint with a cooling, fresh finish"

Review:  I found this one to be quite enjoyable, and refreshing.  The aroma that comes through is a fresh, sweet aroma of spearmint.  In the taste, it's a pretty gentle taste of spearmint.  It's refreshing, and sweet in nature.

Velo Plus Peppermint

Flavor Description:  "A peppermint flavor with a menthol finish"

Review:  I found this one to have a pretty nice experience to it.  It smells just like a peppermint.  It's lightly sweet, and smooth.  In the flavor profile, the peppermint flavor is front and center.  It's not too bold, and comes across in a smooth, sweet way.

Velo Plus Mint

Flavor Description:  "A fresh, sweet, cooling mint flavor"

Review:  Yes, this line has 3 mint flavors for some reason.  The aroma of this one is is a mild, lightly sweet peppermint.  In the flavor, I find it to be pretty refreshing.  The peppermint flavor is gentle, and seems to have a very faint hint of spearmint to it.

Velo Plus Citrus Chill

Flavor Description:  "A blast of fresh citrus flavor with a cooling twist"

Review:  I found this one to be a little odd.  In the aroma, it has a present citrus smell.  It seems to be mostly lemon, but perhaps with a little orange.  It has a light cooling sensation in the aroma, which I notice in the lip, as well as in the flavor.  In the flavor, the citrus is a mix of lemon and orange.  But it also has this weird plastic-y type of flavor to it.  I dunno what that is, but it's weird.

Velo Plus Wild Berry

Flavor Description:  "A bold blend of juicy berry flavors"

Review:  Now, we have come to the last one:  Velo Plus Wild Berry!  This one's quite enjoyable.  It seems to be like a mix of cherry and raspberry in the aroma and flavor, if I had to place it.  It's a very well rounded and enjoyable flavor.  The fruits come through clearly, and aren't overly sweet.  It seems to mostly be raspberry, but seems to have a little cherry mixed in, as well.  Of the series, I can say this is probably one of the most tasty ones in the new Velo Plus series.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I will say this, these are vastly improved over the old US Velo products.  These are almost on par with the Swedish Lyft/Velo products.  The quality is quite high, and I'd say these are easily some of the best nicotine pouches available in stores in the US.  Wild Berry came out on top at 3.46/5, Spearmint at 3.29/5, Peppermint at 3.21/5, Wintergreen and Mint at 3.13/5, and then Citrus Chill at 2.96/5.  Honestly, they were all good except Citrus Chill.  That one just had a weird flavor to me.

So, if you're a US consumer and looking for something to try out, I'd definitely say give these a go!
