General Strong (White Portion) - Snus Review. 17 February 2025.

Today, we have a rather interesting snus to review.  This is General White Strong!  While this is a "new" snus product this year, it's not technically a new product.  I'll recap!  In 2007, Swedish Match launched General Sterk White:  The Norwegian Edition.  This was mainly because Norway consumers, at the time, liked strong snus, and they liked white portions.  Somewhere around 2014 (I think), it was rebranded to General White Strong.  That product was discontinued, and relaunched in the XRANGE series as XRANGE General Strong White.  But now, Swedish Match has brought this one back from the dead!   The flavor description for this one has the standard General flavor profile:  "Spicy tobacco character with hints of bergamot, as well as a hint of tea, hay and leather".  Each can weighs 21.6g and has 24 portions, weighing 0.9 grams each.  The nicotine content is 12mg/g, which breaks down to 10.8mg/portion.  That makes this one 4mg stronger than regular General White Portion.

One interesting note, the bottom of the can notes two ingredients not present in regular General White Portion:  lakrits and rökarom (smoke flavoring).  These are present in General Extra Strong Portion, but not regular General.

Opening the can, I pick up the regular General Snus aroma.  There's a present aroma of bergamot, along with a spicy tobacco base.  I do notice this one to be slightly smokier than regular General Snus, and it has a subtle sweet tone in the background.  Perhaps from the lakrits.  The portions are semi-moist, and semi-soft.  Once you roll them around and fluff them up (due to the Star Formation wedging these portions), they feel pretty nice under the lip.  The flavor is like General White, but a little more complex.  I pick up the traditional flavor of bergamot, a peppery tobacco base, and a light grassy tone.  It is slightly smoky, but not overly smoky by any means.  The nicotine strength feels a little above regular strength, and has a steady delivery to it.  The flavor lasts a little over an hour, on average!

Rating and Final Thoughts

If you like General White Portion but want something stronger, you'll be happy here!  I gave this one a 4.08/5.  It's a top notch snus.  Great General flavor, but with more body than your regular General White Portion.  The extra components to the flavor add a lot to the body, so it's one that you can enjoy day in and day out!
