Small Batch 13 (Salty & What) White Portion - Review. 5 February 2020.

Swedish Match recently released Small Batch Chef's Edition No1: Punsch, which made me think the SB series was getting a reboot, but surprisingly came out recently with this one - #13: Salty and What?  It appears that may have been a special release, and the Small Batch series lives on!  This is one with a very interesting flavor, and a very interesting name.  If you're new to Small Batch, this is how Swedish Match describes it: "We at Swedish Match have produced thousands of products over the course of a few hundred years. Our experts are experts in the correct sense of the word. But they have not been tired of developing new ideas. In order for them to get that opportunity - and for Swedish snusers to be able to share it all - we now launch a new range of products called Small Batch, where the flavor is replaced several times a year. Each flavor is produced in a small edition."

The flavor description for this one says, "Salty and What? is a taste approach where we have been inspired by the combination of salt and sweet, with cocoa tones and roasted butter, but also of the typical character that often characterizes pipe tobacco with tones of vanilla, nut cake, honey and dried fruit."  Each can comes with 24 white portions in the star formation, weighing 1 gram each.  The nicotine content isn't published, but I'd assume it's in the regular strength to strong range.

When you open the can, a buttery aroma comes through, along with chocolate, a nutty hint, and a robust tobacco smell. The portions are soft to the touch and comfortable in the lip, though I do suggest fluffing them before putting them in the lip. The flavor is very pastry-like. There’s a present taste of chocolate, along with hints of vanilla and butter. There’s a slight nuttiness to it, along with a mild hint of tobacco. The nicotine strength feels to be about the regular level, and the flavor lasts around 45 minutes, on average.  For me, I can't see myself using more than one can of this.  It's a very powerful flavor, and has a lot going on.  But if you like pastry-type flavors, you may really enjoy this one!
