R42 Green Mint (Super Strong) White - Review. 16 July 2018.

Back in 2017, I reviewed R42 Peppermint (Xtra Strong White) and R42 Green Mint (Xtra Strong White).  In 2018, those products were replaced with Super Strong versions, and in 2019 the cans changed from black to white.  If you're not familiar with R42, don't fret!  I will do a little background, which I know you all enjoy reading, right?  So, several years ago, I heard about a Swedish Match product named Rocket that was for sale in the border stores (which I did eventually get to review in 2017). At one point, that product evolved into one called Revel by Rocket. Revel by Rocket eventually evolved into R42, which now is a whole range of products with mint flavors (Cool Mint, Peppermint, and Green Mint, and "Super Strong"), a licorice flavor, and a tobacco flavor.  The R42 line also comes with some of the best looking snus cans on the market today.  It used to be only for sale on the border stores, then Swedish Match added it to their e-store, now folks in the US can buy it online!  I grabbed this one from SnusMe.com.

The flavor description for this one says, "Strong white portion with taste of spearmint and melon." It comes in a 14g can with 20 portions for 0.7g portions.  It used to have less portions, but thanks to the new law in Sweden you get 20 portions per can!  The nicotine content, as mentioned earlier, is 26mg/g (2.6%) which breaks down to 18.2mg/portion

When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is a lightly sweet mix of melon and spearmint. The portions are light in weight, only weighing 0.7 grams, so they don't get too plump in the lip, but they don't feel lacking. The portion material itself is also pretty soft to the touch, and feel great in the lip! The flavor of this snus is very unique - the taste of melon is pretty present, and is accompanied by a light taste of spearmint in the background. It's pretty gentle, and isn't overly sweet. It's a very interesting flavor. This snus packs a solid kick in the nicotine department; it feels to be just a touch above the extra strong level. The flavor itself lasts a pretty good amount of time; on average I've found I can enjoy this snus for up to an hour.

Rating and Final Thoughts

There are so, so, so many mint products out there.  But, to be fair, this is one of the better ones.  I usually don't like mixing mint flavors with other stuff, but it works really well with this one.  The melon and mint flavors combine really well.  This one averaged at 3.42/5 for me.  If it was a little less strong, I'd use this one a lot more often, honestly.  But, if you like mint products with high strengths, you'll enjoy this one.  It's a pretty solid snus.
