I recently reviewed
R42 Peppermint and R42 Green Mint, two products made by Swedish Match and sold in Sweden's border stores. A special thanks to our friend
@smokeitnowmaan on Instagram who hooked us up with those products and this one. He found this product in a border store as well, but what's interesting about this particular R42 product is that it's the only one in the line that's listed for sale at
Swedish Match's web store. The
flavor description for this one says, "Light and spicy tobacco character with clear elements of peppermint, as well as some eucalyptus and cedar." This snus comes in an 11.2 gram can with 16 portions weighing 0.7 grams each. The nicotine content on this one, being a “Super Strong”, is 26mg/g (2.6%), which breaks down to 18.2 mg/portion. This is Swedish Match's second "Super Strong" snus; recently they released
G3 Volt, which also was at that higher nicotine level.
When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a sharp smell of peppermint with a mild hint of eucalyptus in the back. The portion is a little on the dry side, and is moderately soft to the touch. When you put it in your lip you'll feel that nice cooling sensation in the lip that is common of most mint snus products. The taste is predominantly peppermint, which is very present in the flavor profile. The eucalyptus flavor is very mild and stays in the background. I don't notice the cedar flavor in the taste, however. This is a long lasting snus in terms of flavor, I've been able to enjoy these for an hour to an hour and a half! The nicotine feels to be strong, but it doesn't feel "Super Strong". I get a nice kick from it, and it feels to be at the extra strong level, but it doesn't feel much stronger than most extra strong snus products I've reviewed in the past.
R42 Cool Mint is a pretty decent snus. It's not amazing by any means, but if you like mint snus it's worth a try!
