Today, we have a limited edition range of nicotine pouches in the Grizzly family to check out! These are an online exclusive, which I bought from Nicokick.com. The Grizzly line is one I like a lot. The old mini dry pouches they had were terrible, but when they switched to the slim/moist types, they were much better. These are made by the same folks that make Velo Plus, so the quality is similar. One advantage I think Grizzly has, however, is that it's more appealing to men, as a brand. Nicotine pouches in general are pretty sleek, and modern. But this is really the only brand that captures that rugged, outdoorsy flavor that (some) smokeless users look for. I'm from the south myself, and this brand is one you can get people to try more often than Velo or Zyn. Before we get into the reviews, let's talk about the contents.
Grizzly Hunter Orange
Grizzly Copperhead
Grizzly Buckshot
Grizzly Backcountry
The Contents
The Pouch - These are the slim, moist type. They're soft, and have a nice mouthfeel. Each can weighs 10.6 grams and has 20 pouches, weighing 0.53g each.
The Nicotine Strength - These seem to only come in the 12mg/pouch strength. It has a nice delivery, and feels just a little over the regular strength level.
The Flavor Longevity / Presence - These all have a bold, present flavor profile that lasts quite a while; usually I can keep a pouch in for up to 40ish minutes.
Now, let's see how they taste!
Grizzly Hunter Orange
Flavor Description: "A hint of bright citrus flavor".
My Review: Opening the can, I pick up a present, bright aroma of orange. It's tart, tangy, and just slightly sweet. In the flavor profile, the orange taste is quite nice. A lot of US citrus products aren't that great, but this is one of the first ones I've had that has a good flavor. The orange flavor is front and center. It's slightly sweet, but balanced out by tart and tangy notes!
Grizzly Copperhead
Flavor Description: "A hint of red fruit flavor".
My Review: This line has two fruit flavors: Copperhead and Backcountry. For Copperhead, it's a very tangy fruity aroma. There might even be a faint touch of citrus to it. In the flavor profile, it's definitely a more tangy fruit taste. It's slightly sweet, and does seem to have a faint note of citrus to it. As far as what fruit exactly, I'd say perhaps a little strawberry. It's sweet, but not too sweet.
Flavor Description: "A hint of coffee flavor".
My Review: This one has a nice, dark coffee aroma to it. I was wondering if it would taste like the new Velo Coffee one, but it's different. In the flavor profile, it's a rich coffee taste with a touch of sweetness to it. Almost like a black coffee with a dash of cream and a pinch of sugar. It's not overly sweet, either, which I find to be pretty nice.
Flavor Description: "A hint of dark fruit flavor".
My Review: This one has more of a rich fruity aroma to it. To me, it seems to be a little cherry, perhaps some raspberry. It's sweet, but smooth. Whereas the other one was more tangy, this one is more sweet, but again, smooth. The fruity flavor is front and center, and comes with a subtle sweetness to it. I pick up some cherry, perhaps a little raspberry, maybe a dash of blueberry. I'm not sure what fruity flavors they added to it, but to me that's what I pick up out of it. It's an interesting flavor.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I was very impressed with these. They have a comfortable pouch, great flavor presence, and an enjoyable experience. Hunter Orange was my favorite, at 3.58/5. It had a great citrus taste. Backcountry (Dark Fruit) next at 3.5/5. After that, Buckshot (Coffee) and Copperhead (Tangy Fruit) tied up at 3.42/5. But all four were enjoyable. If you're a US consumer, you'll want to try these out.
I've heard these are an online exclusive. If you want, you can buy them at Nicokick.com.
