Swedish Match recently launched three new stark (strong) products: General Original Strong, General White Strong, and this one: Göteborgs Rapé Stark Vit Portion. This one isn't actually a new one. Back in 2016, Swedish Match collaborated with Swedish tattoo parlor Salong Betong on a limited designed, limited edition snus called
Göteborgs Rapé White Stark. Then, in 2017, they added it full time to the GR family as
GR White Strong. Then, in 2018, they discontinued that one and put it in the XRANGE series as
GR XRANGE White Strong. Now, it's back again! Here's how Swedish Match describes this one: "
Light tobacco character with clear hints of lavender and juniper, as well as a hint of wood and citrus". Each can weighs 21.6 grams and has 24 portions, weighing 0.9 grams each. The nicotine content is 12mg/g, which is just 10.8mg/portion. This puts it just a hair above regular strength, but not quite to the strong level.
To keep this simple, this tastes just like regular Göteborgs Rapé White Portion, but is a little stronger. If you're new to snus, however, I'll still describe it. Opening the can, the aroma is a pleasant smell of juniper, a touch of citrus, with light floral notes of lavender, and a slight herbal tone. The portions come in the Star Formation, and are the standard Swedish Match white portion material. They are moderately soft, semi-moist, and pretty comfortable under the lip. As with all other Star Formation snuses, I suggest fluffing these, and rolling them in your fingers before putting one under your lip. It helps soften them up! The flavor is just as good as regular GR! I pick up a nice mix of juniper and lavender. There's a slight hint of citrus behind it, and some herbal notes. It's a tasty snus, as always! In the strength, this one feels just a hair above regular strength, but not quite strong. The flavor lasts about an hour, sometimes a little more!
Rating and Final Thoughts
So, at the end of the day, not a bad snus. However, it's basically just regular GR White Portion but a little stronger. To me, it doesn't feel quite at the "strong" level, but it does feel a hair above regular strength. So, if you like GR, but want something with just a tad more nicotine to it, I think you'll like it. I rated this one at 4/5. Good stuff, and glad to see new snus to kick off the new year!
