Guess what I'm reviewing today? An actual tobacco product! It is so nice to be back to reviewing regular snus again. The market has gone nicotine pouch crazy lately, so when new snus products come out, I tend to get a little excited. Today we're talking about Kapten Prime, a new, premium snus product from AG Snus. I guess this is kind of like their General Onyx, because this is said to be a more premium version of their
Kapten Vit/White Portion. The
flavor description for this product says, "
A premium edition of Kapten White with more fullness and character in the taste." Each can weighs 14g and has 20 portions for 0.7g portions. The nicotine content is 10mg/g (1.0%), or 7mg/portion.
When you open the can, a robust, peppery tobacco smell greets you along with a tart, but sharp smell of bergamot. It has much more presence in the aroma than your standard white portion! The portions are soft, and plump. They have a soft tobacco inside the pouch and feel great under the upper lip! In terms of flavor, there's a present, tart flavor of bergamot. In the back is a robust, earthy tobacco base. I also find a present, peppery character in the mix as well! It's definitely a more robust, powerful flavor of Kapten. The nicotine feels to be about regular strength, and the flavor lasts around an hour, on average! It definitely reminds me of the regular Kapten White, but it has a much more bold, powerful flavor.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I definitely enjoyed this one. It's nice to be able to review new snus products again in this world of nicotine pouches we live in, and this was definitely a great release to kick off 2021. If you like Kapten, you'll enjoy this one, because it really amps up the flavor profile. If you've never had Kapten, this would be a good one to try out, because it's probably the best version of the original Kapten flavor. This one rated at 3.67 out of 5 for me, and is one I'd definitely buy again.
