Swedish Match has partnered with Karl Ljung again to release a second "Chef's Edition" in the Small Batch series, this one with called "Höstskörd", or, autumn harvest. This is the 5th collaboration Swedish Match has done with Chef Ljung, following General Kardus (Spring 2018), General Gastronomy Portion (Summer 2018), General Kardus (Winter 2018), and the first Chef's Edition in December of 2019, Small Batch Chef's Edition No1 Punsch. So, now, Chef Ljung has made a snus for every season - spring, summer, winter, and fall. If you're new to Small Batch, this is how Swedish Match describes it: "We at Swedish Match have produced thousands of products over the course of a few hundred years. Our experts are experts in the correct sense of the word. But they have not been tired of developing new ideas. In order for them to get that opportunity - and for Swedish snusers to be able to share it all - we now launch a new range of products called Small Batch, where the flavor is replaced several times a year. Each flavor is produced in a small edition."
When you open the can, the aroma comes through as a mild mix of apple and berry, with subtle tones of spruce and a mild tobacco character. The portions come in the familiar Star Formation pattern, so I do suggest fluffing them before putting them under your lip. The flavor is pretty good, it caught me off guard. I notice a subtle pepper presence mixed with a nice apple flavor. There is rosemary and spruce, but it's in the background and not too overpowering. There's a mild base tobacco taste with a slight spice to it. The flavor isn't overly sweet, and comes through pretty well balanced. The nicotine feels to be about the regular strength level, and the flavor lasts about an hour, on average. It's definitely a tasty snus that caught me off guard! If you like fall flavored snus or complex flavored products, I'd suggesting giving this one a go!
The flavor description for this one says, "A taste of the autumn harvest. This snus has a strong taste of dark berries and autumn apples, as well as hints of rosemary and spruce shoots." Each can comes with 24 white portions in the star formation, weighing 1 gram each. The nicotine content isn't published, but I'd assume it's in the regular strength to strong range.
