Today we're going to be talking about a new product from
Nordic Snus - LD Stark Original Portion! I've been a fan of LD snus since 2009, and have always wondered if they would ever release a stronger version. Though I don't use much strong snus, it seems that consumers are wanting it, so it makes sense that Nordic Snus would release a product to meet that demand. They describe the product by saying “
LD Original Portion Stark gives you the same traditional snus flavor as LD Original Portion but with extra strength. It is made of tobacco leaves with higher nicotine content and offers a robust flavor with a fresh citrus flavor of bergamot.” LD Stark comes in an 18 gram can with 20 portions for 0.9 grams each. The nicotine content is 14mg/g (1.4%) or 12.60mg/portion.
When I open a can, the aroma that comes through is a fresh, clear citrus aroma with light hints of tobacco in the background. The portions are plump and feel very full in the lip. They also have a decent moisture amount for a quick release of flavor. The taste is much like
LD Original Portion, but seems to have more tobacco taste. There is a fresh, clean taste of citrus which seems to be a mix of orange and bergamot. There is a more robust tobacco taste in this one than in regular LD, which provides a nice backbone for this snus. It's not as peppery as with General, for example, and the flavor seems to be focused on the citrus and the tobacco. The nicotine strength feels stronger than a regular strength snus, but isn't too overbearing. The flavor also lasts a good amount of time; I've found with this one I can enjoy it for 45 to 55 minutes.
If you like regular LD and want a little extra nicotine, you'll enjoy this product. It has a really nice taste and a little extra nicotine kick.
