Thunder Original (Ultra Strong) White Dry - Review (Discontinued). 17 February 2016.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

V2 Tobacco has been growing the Ultra Strong White Dry category recently. To date, they've released Thunder Frosted Ultra Strong White Dry, Thunder Wintergreen Ultra Strong White Dry and Thunder Cool Mint Ultra Strong White Dry. I know the nicotine content of these products is listed as 42mg/g, and that can be a little intimidating, so let me break down what that actually looks like.

Thunder Ultra Strong White Dry
Nicotine - 42mg/g
18 portions per can
11.7 gram can weight
Each Portion - 0.65 gram
Nicotine Per Portion - 27.3 mg/portion

So, as you can see, it's still pretty strong.  At 27.3mg/portion that's much stronger than Thunder Extra Strong!

In case you're just tuning in, here's a comparison I did to examine the "white dry" product and compare it to other products in the Thunder line up. On the far left, you see tobacco from an Offroad Portion, in the center you see tobacco from a Thunder White Dry product and on the far right you see tobacco from a Thunder Ultra Strong White Dry product. These products are basically a "dry" version of Thunder Snus, produced in the same way but without any moisture added. The nicotine absorbs into the blood slower than usual until the portion is completely moist, then it will work much like a regular original portion does. Also, when people are taxed by weight in their snus orders, taking some of the moisture out of the snus is a way to help people save money. You can see in the picture to the left the difference in products. In the photo, the Offroad snus on the far left is more "clumpy" and moist, whereas the Frosted White Dry products in the center and on the far right are more dry and finely ground and don't stick together as much. If you add moisture to these products yourself, they would look a lot like the product to the far left.

Thunder Original is V2 Tobacco's tobacco centric flavor. I've seen flavor profiles before that list bergamot, but I've never noticed it in Thunder before, to be honest. When you open the can of Thunder Original Ultra Strong White Dry, the aroma that comes through is a straightforward tobacco smell. It's not too bold or robust, it's more gentle than I experience with Thunder Original Extra Strong (Original Portion). I don't notice any smoke in the aroma of this one, like I do with Thunder Original Portion. The portions are white dry, so of course they're going to be dryer than your average white portion. However, once they moisten up they become more comfortable in the lip. The taste is a mild, mellow tobacco flavor with just a little bit of pepper in the background. If you've had Thunder Original (Ultra Strong) White Portion, I would say the taste is closer to that one. These portions, being white dry, last quite a long time as well. I don't do a lot of strong portions, so I can't keep these in too long because of the high nicotine level, but last night I kept one in for a few hours just to test the longevity of the portion. But my head was certainly spinning! The nicotine strength comes on slowly, but it lasts quite a while.

If you're a fan of tobacco centric snus and want something super strong, I would definitely suggest trying this one out!
