NOTE: Phantom and Offroad Original were discontinued in 2020. They were merged into a new product, Offroad Classic. That review is here.
It's been quite a while since I've had this, but I've had a few requests for it. Offroad Original is actually one of the products carried by Northerner.com's US Warehouse. Offroad is a budget brand, and costs less than $3.00 per can. If you're looking for an alternative to save a little money, Offroad is a good line to check out. The flavor description for this snus says, "Offroad Original Portion has a traditional tobacco flavor with hints of lemon and bergamot." This snus comes in an 18 gram can with 20 portions for 0.9 gram portions. The nicotine strength is 8mg/g (0.8%) for 7.2mg/portion.
Just for comparison purposes, this is what the Offroad can looks like when sold from international stores. The US can doesn't have the "Offroad" tag on top. It says "Snus: Use Anywhere And Anytime", and then has a warning label underneath. But if you order from an international store that sells this product, this is what the can looks like.
When you open the can, the aroma is a present smell of citrus with some pepper. It's more of an orange aroma than bergamot. The portions are plump, and comfortable in the lip. They're not overly moist, but still have a pretty quick flavor release. The flavor is a present citrusy taste, it comes across as more orange like in the aroma. It's pretty gentle, and pleasant tasting. There's also a little pepper in the background, too. The nicotine strength feels to be about the regular level, so if you're a US snuser and have used General before, it feels about as strong as that. The flavor, on average, lasts about 45 minutes.
Offroad is a good budget option if you're looking to save some money. I know not everyone likes it, but I enjoyed this can. It's been a while since I've had it so it was fun to revisit this one!
