Knekt (Original and White Portion) - Reviews (Discontinued). 24 December 2018.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

Knekt has always been a personal favorite of mine and, in my opinion, is one of the underrated snus products on the market. I feel like I've reviewed Knekt a million times, because it seems like since it's launch in 2011 it goes through changes every other year or so. But, it's been on the market for 7 years now which is quite impressive, so it appears that Fiedler and Lundgren are happy with the brand. I first reviewed it in 2011 and then again when the white portion version and original portion version relaunched in 2016 with a new design and "reformulated" flavor.  Now, in 2018, it's gone through yet another redesign so I figured it was time to re-review it once again.

Here you can see Knekt over the years.  I wasn't a big fan of the 2011 design and the 2015 design - they looked cheap.  The 2016 design was a big step in the right direction and I think they really nailed it with the currently 2018 redesign.  It's taken them a while to get it figured out but it seems as though Fiedler and Lundgren have a great design now for the Knekt line.

Knekt Original Portion

The flavor description for Knekt OP says, "Knekt Portion is a portion of snus with a sweet tobacco flavor and sour undertones of bergamot." This product comes in an 18 gram can with 20 portions for 0.9 gram portions. The nicotine content is 9mg/g (0.9%) which breaks down to 8.1mg/portion.

When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is a robust, well rounded, slightly smoky tobacco smell with a very light hint of bergamot. The portions are moist, but not too moist, and soft to the touch. They're also quite comfortable in the lip. While this does contain citrus, it's not the star of the flavor profile. Most snus products with citrus will have a very present citrus flavor, however in Knekt it serves as a compliment to the tobacco taste. The tobacco flavor is front and center and it is very rich, earthy, robust, and well rounded. There's a light smokiness to the flavor, as well. The citrus is very gentle and stays in the background of the flavor profile. In terms of nicotine, this product feels to be about the regular strength level. The flavor, on average, lasts about 45 minutes, which is common of most original portions.

Knekt White Portion

The flavor description for Knekt OP says, "Knekt Portion is a portion of snus with a sweet tobacco flavor and sour undertones of bergamot." This product comes in an 16 gram can with 20 portions for 0.8 gram portions. The nicotine content is 9mg/g (0.9%) which breaks down to 7.2mg/portion.

When you open the can, the aroma is a mild tobacco character. It is earthy, and gentle. I notice a very, very faint hint of citrus, but it's way in the background. The portions are a little dryer than most white portions, but are still soft to the touch and comfortable in the lip. The flavor develops a little slower than the original portion, and while it is similar, it's more mild since it is a white portion. The taste is very tobacco centric, and the tobacco flavor that comes across is mild, earthy, and slightly smoky. The citrus flavor is also there, but it stays in the background and is relatively mild. The flavor longevity is quite impressive; I've found I can keep these in for over an hour! The nicotine strength feels about the same as the original portion, right at the regular strength level.

As I said before, I think Knekt is very underrated and is a great product!  I really enjoy the original portion version.  If you've never had Knekt before, I definitely suggest giving these a try!
