Today, we have some US market nicotine pouches to check out: Sesh! These are products that were designed in Sweden, but are made here in the US! You don't see that much; it seems like most of them are made in other countries like China and India, then sent here. We have five different flavors we'll be diving into today: Clear, Wintergreen, Mint, Mango, and Cappuccino! According to their website, Sesh is made with pharmaceutical-grade synthetic nicotine. Let's open a can and check the pouches out a little more up close and personal!
Sesh: The Pouches
Sesh: The Strengths
Sesh is said to contain a patented gum base, which is designed to provide a more consistent experience. Each can weighs 11.3g and has 20 pouches, at 0.57g each. Sesh is also pH neutral. I mentioned this in my recent review of NOAT, but when pouches are pH neutral it provides a much better user experience. You don't get as much burn in the lip, which I like. The pouches are slim, moderately soft to the touch, and pretty dry. They feel soft against the gum, and get more comfortable as they moisten up under the lip. These all seem to yield a flavor that lasts anywhere between 35-45 minutes on average.
Sesh: The Strengths
Sesh comes in three strengths: 4mg, 6mg, and 8mg. I'm more partial to the 8mg strength, which feels to be about the regular mark. The 6mg is lighter, but still decent to me. The 4mg level is much too low for me. However, I think those who enjoy lighter products, like the 3mg Zyn for example, will find enjoyment with that strength level.
Flavor Description: "A crisp and invigorating flavor".
My Review: In the aroma of this one, I pick up a mild, gentle aroma of wintergreen with subtle minty tones in the background. This is one of those that I have come to call "Mintergreen". It does have a wintergreen flavor to it, but it's rounded out by lightly sweet, gentle tones of mint.
Sesh Mint
Flavor Description: "A clean and refreshing flavor".
My Review: For a mint product, this one was pretty impressive. The peppermint aroma is mild, gentle, and lightly sweet. In the flavor profile, it's minty and refreshing, but not too bold, or overly sweet. It's very well balanced, and refreshing.
Sesh Mango
Flavor Description: "A sweeter, tropical taste".
My Review: I really enjoy this one, it's probably my favorite of the bunch. In the aroma, I pick up a smooth, present, tropical aroma of mango. It isn't overly sweet, which is nice. In the flavor profile, it has a nice tropical essence to it. The mango flavor is front and center, and comes across in a mellow, but present way. It's a really nice, well rounded experience.
Sesh Cappuccino
Flavor Description: "The perfect balance of creamy coffee flavor with a hint of sweetness",
My Review: I've had a lot of coffee pouches over the years, but I'll be honest, this one really does stand out to me. In the aroma, I pick up a mild, nutty aroma of coffee. It has a slight sweetness to it, and a gentle creaminess that makes me think of vanilla. In the flavor profile, coffee lovers will be quite pleased here. The coffee taste is balanced out by these smooth, gentle vanilla tones. It's tasty stuff.
Sesh Clear
Flavor Description: "A straightforward nicotine experience without any added taste",
My Review: This one is going to be pretty easy to review. It's unflavored. So, in the aroma and flavor, I don't pick up much other than the pouch material. I don't really use products like these, but they exist for folks who want a product with effect, but no taste. And, there are some states where flavors are completely banned, so these provide a great alternative to people who don't have access to products with added flavor.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I was pretty pleased with the Sesh line. The scores ranged from 3.13 to 3.44, which is pretty solid. I don't use a lot of nicotine pouches, and I've never rated any over a 4, so I always tell people when looking at my ratings that anything above a 3 is what I consider to be a "good score", or a product I'd recommend.
Clear came out at 3.44/5, but that's a tricky one, because the average tilted because I didn't have an aroma or flavor to rate. But, of the ones that have flavor, let's see. Mango came out on top at 3.38/5. Cappuccino next at 3.29/5. That one really impressed me, and I don't drink coffee. Wintergreen next at 3.21/5. And then mint at 3.13/5. If I had to make any suggestions, I'd say Mango and Capuccino were the best ones I tried. I'd be curious to see what the Sesh folks could do with a citrus.
