I've been looking forward to trying this one out, and today I finally have the new Vårgårda Rustik to check out! This is a snus made by the folks at Nordic Snus AB, makers of LD Snus. What's special about this one? Well, in the era of nicotine pouches, we rarely see new snus. We only saw like 20 last year. But, this is a special one. Artisan Snus Signature Blend, this is something special. The flavor description says it has a "
raw tobacco flavor". Each can weighs 20 grams, and has 20 pouches, for 1 gram each. The nicotine content is 10mg/g, which breaks down to 10mg/portion. For some background info, I was told this contains Oriental / Turkish tobacco. It is a mix of sun and air cured tobacco, as well. The can label also notes that this snus uses water from the Säveån River in Sweden! Now, with all that being said, let's check out this snus!
Opening the can, the aroma that comes through is an earthy tobacco tone. It is slightly dark in nature, and has subtle notes of grass, and hay. It's slightly spicy in nature. The portions are quite nice. These white portions are 1 gram each, which makes them quite plump. They aren't super dry, but aren't super moist either. They fill out the lip really well, and have a nice flavor release to them. In the flavor profile, it has a beautiful tobacco taste. The tobacco is earthy, and slightly dark. It has a grassy nature, and almost a slight wooden tone. It's very well rounded, and simple in nature. The nicotine strength on this one feels to be about the regular level, and has a steady delivery. The flavor longevity is pretty solid, lasting up to an hour or so, on average.
Rating and Final Thoughts
This snus launched in 2024, but I'm just now reviewing it in 2025. So I'll say this, of all the products I had in 2024, this was snus of the year. We don't see products like this very often, and there are very few I've rated at 4.5 or higher, so this is certainly an elite snus. The portion is great, the taste is top notch, and it has a nice experience. At 4.5/5, it definitely is a top-tier snus.
