Swave Salmiak (Nicotine Pouches) - Review. 4 October 2023.

Today, we have a new product in the Swave line to check out, one with the flavor of licorice!  The Swave line is produced by Gotlandssnus, and has a pretty wide array of flavors.  This new one isn't the most common flavor in nicotine pouches.  It's interesting, when I first started using smokeless products about 15 years ago, I was not the biggest fan of black licorice.  Now, it' something that's grown on me that I really enjoy!  The flavor description for this one says, "a clear taste of salmiak and licorice which together provide the saltiness of this flavor combination".  Each can weighs 16 grams and contains 20 pouches, for 0.8 grams each.  The nicotine content sits at 13mg/g, which breaks down to 10.4mg/pouch.  Without further ado, let's check this one out!

Opening up the can, I notice a very present aroma of black licorice.  It's rich, present, and slightly peppery.  The pouches are slim, soft, and semi-moist.  They're pretty comfortable under the lip with a nice fit.  The flavor of this one is quite good.  Honestly, it's one of the most licorice-tasting licorice products I've had in recent memory.  This isn't a common flavor in nicotine pouches, but it's definitely the first one I've had that really captures the taste of black licorice.  In the flavor, the black licorice flavor is rich, and quite tasty.  It's present, natural, and has a light peppery tone to it.  This one also has some saltiness to it, which is a nice bonus with a licorice flavored product!  The nicotine strength feels about regular, and I find the flavor lasts a good 40-45 minutes, on average.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I'll be honest, this was a pretty impressive pouch.  The black licorice taste in this one was really solid, and had more presence to it than any licorice flavored nicotine pouch I've had so far.  I rated it at 3.42/5.  If you're a fan of black licorice flavors, this is one you won't want to miss out on.  Gotlandssnus has always been great with their flavors, so I knew going into this one I wouldn't be let down!
