Formula One (Buccal Nootropic Pouches) - Review. 25 March 2023.

You know me, I like trying out anything new in a pouch.  Snus, nicotine pouches, CBD pouches, coffee pouches, etc etc.  But today, I branch out even further to trying out Buccal Nootropic Pouches!  To break that down real quick, "buccal" relates to the inner cheek, and "nootropic" is refers to something that enhances mood or cognitive function.  These are Formula One pouches brought to us by Flowblend, based here in the USA!  Let me read you their description to get deeper into this product line:  "Nootropic Pouches support mood, focus, and motivation.  Ultra high quality ingredients will give you the competitive edge when you need it.  Made with Alpha-GPC, Adaptogens, and other powerful compounds. Fast acting, mobile, and discrete.  Our Alpha GPC is 99% pure, no other company does that. Our Rhodiola Rosea is the highest quality and concentration available, and the Vinpocetine is more valuable than Gold by weight".  In each can of Formula One, you're going to get 20 slim sized pouches.

Now, if you're like me, you probably have no idea what Alpha-GPC, Rhodiola Rosea, Vinpocetine, and/or L-Theanine are.  Don't sweat it, I did a little Google-Fu and we're going to talk about all of that before we get into the review.

What does it do?

I borrowed this photo from their website, if you want to check it out bigger just click on it.  But, I'll break it down.  Each can has 150mg of Alpha GPC, which is said to benefit brain health, memory, and learning.  There are also 5mg of Vinpocetine, which is said to benefit cerebral circulation, reduce inflammation, and benefit alertness, cognition, mood.  Then, there's 50mg of Rhodiola Rosea, which is said to benefit energy, cognition, mood, attention, and reduce stress. Lastly, there is 40mg of L-Theanine, which is promotes a positive mental state and wakeful relaxation.  Also, to add in their legal statement, "these statements and product have not been evaluated by the FDA. This Product not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease".

NOTE:  The bottom of the can says they advise using a maximum of 3 pouches per day.

What's in the can?

Each can contains 20 pouches.  There's also a little desiccant pouch in each can, which I presume is to keep the product fresh.  The pouches are slim in size, and semi-dry with a soft feel to the touch.  I opened one of the pouches to show you the contents, as well.  These products are said to be zero sugar, and the bottom of the can notes Xylitol and Stevia as the sweeteners.  The filler material is cellulose, which is a pretty common plant fiber used in tobacco-free products.  Now that we've done all the background, let's dive into the review!  We're going to talk about three Formula One products, and then a bonus Formula One product that has the addition of CBD!

Formula One Cherry Blast

Review:  When you open the can, you'll encounter an aroma that is mild, and gentle.  The cherry is not overly sweet, and is closer to a black cherry presence.  Under the lip, there's a great flavor release, and more bold presence to the flavor than in the aroma.  The cherry comes through clearly, with a light sweetness and a subtle earthy quality to it.  I notice the flavor lasts about 40-45 minutes.

Formula One Cacao Beanz

Review:  Opening the can, the aroma that comes through for this one is a gentle aroma of chocolate.  Like with the last one, the flavor is more present than the aroma.  The chocolate flavor is present, and not overly sweet.  To me, it's closer to a milk chocolate taste than a dark chocolate taste.  But, it's quite good!  I notice a flavor longevity of about 35-40 minutes!

Formula One Natural Spearmint

Review:  This one has more aroma presence to it than the other three.  The spearmint aroma is present, but gentle.  It is smooth in nature, with a light sweetness to it.  Under the lip, you'll get a slight tingle and gentle cooling presence, which is common of mint flavored products.  The taste is quite good.  It's earthy, and semi-sweet.  The spearmint comes through in a nice, smooth way.  This one has a flavor longevity of about 40-45 minutes.

Formula One Natural Spearmint (+CBD)

Review:  This one is going to be different from the previous three, as it contains CBD.  If you're unfamiliar with CBD, it is a cannabinoid that is said to help regulate mood, pain, and immflamuation.  In terms of aroma and flavor, it's pretty similar to the last one.  It has a pretty smooth aroma of spearmint, and is gentle, and fresh in nature.  I also note a subtle cooling sensation when I put one under the lip.  In the flavor profile, it's pretty decent.  The spearmint is present, and lightly sweet.  The addition of CBD is a nice bonus with the other nootropics.  The flavor longevity on this one is about 40-45 minutes, like the last one.

Rating and Final Thoughts

These were really neat pouches, and I'm glad I got to try them out.  I've seen them around here and there, so it was nice to finally sit down and try them out.  Overall, I preferred the Cherry Blast and Cocoa Beanz, both rating at 3.58/5.  The spearmint options both came in at 3.5/5 for me.  I really like that the pouch format is growing and innovating into different things.  For me, as a nicotine enthusiast, I enjoy products like this alongside the nicotine products I use daily.  However, these products also exist for people who want to quit pouched nicotine products, or dip, or what-have-you, and are a great option for that, too.  If you want to learn more, or try some of these for yourself, hit up the FlowBlend website and grab some!
