Göteborgs Rapé Mini & General Mini (Original & White) - Reviews. 21 July 2022.

It's been many, many years since I've reviewed the mini version of General and Göteborgs Rapé.  I've been revisiting products that I haven't rated, and trying to get caught up and post new reviews of these products over the past few years.  I don't do a lot of mini portions, so these tend to fall off my radar, but I've had a lot of requests for them (due to their being low nicotine), so I wanted to sit down and do new reviews of Swedish Match's General Mini Original, General Mini White, and Göteborgs Rapé Mini White!  While I don't personally do mini portions, I do review every snus on the market, which means checking out products like these!

I wanted to post a comparison of the cans, because I wanted to show how small they are.  General Mini White and Göteborgs Rapé White are much smaller than the regular snus can size, and General Mini Original is slightly smaller in diameter, and slightly smaller in height, as well.  In these products, the portions are also lighter in weight, which means a lighter nicotine strength in the mg/portion scale as well.  In this review, I'll cover all of these products individually, so let's dive right in!

Göteborgs Rapé (Mini White Portion)
Flavor Description - "A mellow tobacco taste with distinct notes of lavender and juniper, along with hints of oak and citrus".
Can Contents - 10 grams, 20 portions, 0.5g each
Nicotine Content - 8mg/g (0.8%), or 4mg/portion

Review:  When you open the can, you'll notice an aroma of juniper up front, along with hints of citrus, and light herbal and floral notes.  The pouches are smaller in size, and pretty soft to the touch.  Being in the star format, I suggest fluffing them before putting it under the lip.  In the flavor, there is a present taste of juniper, along with a hint of pepper, a touch of citrus, and light floral and herbal notes.  The nicotine strength is quite light, feeling below the regular strength level.  The flavor lasts about an hour, on average.

General (Mini White Portion)
Flavor Description - "A spicy tobacco taste with notes of bergamot and hints of tea, hay and leather."
Can Contents - 10 grams, 20 portions, 0.5g each
Nicotine Content - 8mg/g (0.8%), or 4mg/portion

Review:  I've always been a big fan of the General brand so I knew this one would be tasty!  In the aroma, you'll notice a gentle aroma of bergamot, along with a mild tobacco presence, and a touch of pepper.  The pouches are smaller in size, and pretty soft to the touch.  Being in the star format, I suggest fluffing them before putting it under the lip.  This one has the classic taste of General.  The bergamot flavor is there, but subtle.  There is also a light, earthy tobacco base with some peppery tones in the background.  The nicotine strength is quite light, feeling below the regular strength level.  The flavor lasts about an hour, on average.

General (Mini Original Portion)
Flavor Description - "A spicy tobacco taste with notes of bergamot and hints of tea, hay and leather".
Can Contents - 10.4 grams, 20 pouches, 0.52g each
Nicotine Content - 8mg/g (0.8%), or 4.16mg/portion

Review - In the General brand, I've always enjoyed the original portion version. When you open the can, you'll encounter a present aroma of bergamot, along with hints of spicy tobacco.  The pouches are smaller in size, with a good moisture amount.  They're soft, and comfortable under the lip.  In the flavor profile, there's a present taste of bergamot, along with a rich tobacco base, and hints of pepper.  The nicotine level is quite light, and feels below the regular strength mark.  The flavor longevity seems to go to about 45-50 minutes, on average.

Rating and Final Thoughts

Keep in mind, I'm not the biggest user of mini portions.  So my scores are going to be a little bit lower.  I put General Mini Original at 3.83/5, and General White Mini and GR White Mini at 3.42/5.  All three are as tasty as their larger portion versions, but available in smaller sizes.  Lately, I've noticed more people online asking about lower strength products, and these three are definitely great offerings for that.  You have to use a smaller portion, but you do get a lower nicotine strength if that's what you're looking for!
