McChrystal's Olde English (Nasal Snuff) - Review. 23 March 2022.

With the snus market getting smaller the past few years (thanks to the rise of nicotine pouches), there haven't been a lot of new smokeless tobacco products for me to review.  That has led me to start adding nasal snuff reviews here to Snubie.com.  I've been using and enjoying nasal snuff for quite some time, and figured it was time to add these reviews here!  McChrystals is a UK based company going back to 1926.  They're currently in their fourth generation running the company.  Today we're checking out their Olde English snuff!  The product description for this one says, "Soft delicate light menthol experience".  This is a 3.5 gram mini tin.

I know menthol is super common with nasal snuff, but it's not really my preference.  I know a lot of folks like it, but it's not anything I really use a lot of.  When you open the can, the note that comes off the tin is a subtle menthol aroma balanced with a semi-sweet tobacco base.  This one has a medium grind with a medium moisture amount, and I find it pretty easy to take!  This one has a pretty decent menthol character to it.  It's present, but not overbearing or anything.  There's an earthy tobacco character in the background, along with a light sweetness.  I don't really get any major throat hit or drip with this one.  In terms of nicotine, it feel pretty average to me - not too strong, not too weak!  In regard to the longevity and after-effect, the menthol linger about for a bit.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I dig McChrystal's stuff.  They make a pretty good quality nasal snuff.  I rated this one at 3.08/5.  If that sounds low, keep in mind, I don't use a lot of menthol stuff myself.  I do appreciate the mix of menthol and tobacco, and that it's not in your face menthol.  It's not one I'd use, but I do have other McChrystal's products I enjoy like their Fine Keg snuff.  If you like menthol though, give it a go!
