I have the power! Skruf PWR, that is. About a year ago I reviewed
Skruf PWR (Extra Strong), and was quite impressed with the flavor. I recently discovered that Skruf launched a new, stronger version of that flavor in Norway: Skruf PWR S5 (Slim Original Portion). A big thanks to our friend in Norway who was able to order this for us. He bought it from
Snus365.no, which is a store that ships exclusively in Norway. The flavor description for this one says, "
the taste is classic tobacco, but with hints of bergamot and citrus". Each can weighs 21.6 grams and has 24 portions, for 0.9 gram portions. The nicotine content is quite strong, 24mg/g. That breaks down to 21.6mg/portion.
While the flavor description mentions citrus, I really don't notice it in the aroma or flavor profile of this one. The aroma that comes through when you open the can is a dark, rich base tobacco. I pick up clear, floral hints, which comes through lightly sweet. I imagine that is an inclusion of rose oil, which is a hallmark of the Skruf brand. The portions are slim, moist, and soft. They feel great in the lip, and the flavor comes on pretty quickly. In the flavor, the floral presence come through right off the bat, and reminds me of a smooth, lightly sweet rose oil. The tobacco base right behind it is a dark, rich flavor. In terms of strength, this one is pretty stout. It feels firmly at the extra strong level. The flavor, on average, lasts about 45 minutes.
Rating and Final Thoughts
If you had the extra strong Skruf PWR, this one is virtually identical but with more nicotine. I rated it at 3.96/5. The nicotine strength brought the score down for me, as I'm not someone who uses a lot of super strong products. However, if you're someone who enjoys the flavor of tobacco and wants something with a lot of strength to it, this is what you're looking for. It's a great tasting snus that packs quite a kick to it.
