Toque x Snubie SP Wintergreen (Nasal Snuff) - Review. 13 September 2021.

I recently mentioned that I was going to be backing away from reviewing non-tobacco products and focusing more on tobacco products.  That is, of course, the reason I started Snubie.com.  I also mentioned recently that I wanted to start reviewing nasal snuff.  I've been using nasal snuff for about 10 years now, and figured it was time to start reviewing it.  And, what better product to kick these reviews off than the collaboration I made with Toque Snuff in the UK?  Yes, today, we're talking about my latest Snubie release - Toque x Snubie SP Wintergreen!  Toque came into existence in 2006, and went online in 2007.  They were the first new snuff company in the UK in 102 years when they started producing.  Toque is the nasal snuff I started with, which is the main reason I wanted my first collaboration to be with them!

Product Details:
Flavor Description - "A truly phenomenal snuff. Components of wintergreen, a light herbal character, subtle tart bergamot, and a mild, musky tobacco base."
Can Contents - 10 grams

If you're new to nasal snuff, there is some debate over the initials "SP", but basically it denotes a snuff with a bergamot/citrus character to it.  A while back someone suggested I make a bergamot+wintergreen snus, and that idea has been in my head for quite a while.  Toque Snuff helped me realize it, but in a nasal snuff!  As far as this review goes, I'm still feeling out how I'm going to do these reviews, but basically I found a few areas I want to look at - aroma, grind, moisture, effect, and presence.  In the aroma, the wintergreen aroma comes through mildly and doesn't mask the tobacco character.  The tobacco base is mild, and musky.  I pick up subtle herbal notes, along with a tart presence of bergamot!  The grind, and moisture, is about medium.  It's easy to pinch, and draws pretty easily into the nose.  The nicotine kick is solid; not too strong, not to weak, and has a steady, stable delivery.  Presence is something I'm going to do in my nasal snuff reviews that I don't do in my snus reviews.  Basically, presence is where the snuff takes me, and what it feels like.  To me, this is a relaxing, outdoorsy snuff.  When I use it, I feel like I'm relaxing in the woods.  It is, in short, a relaxing presence!

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one rated at 4.42/5.  It is the first snuff I've rated, and yes, it is mine, but I did try to remain as objective as possible.  Even though I'm not a full time wintergreen user, I found the pairing of bergamot and wintergreen in this one to be top notch.  It's an enjoyable, relaxing presence!  To my snus audience, if you haven't tried nasal snuff, I definitely suggest checking it out.  Even though tobacco-free nicotine pouches are taking over the world, we can still get snus, and nasal snuff is a nice addition and a nice way to enjoy tobacco!

  1. You did right with this snuff! I found it to be quite nice, the wintergreen is there up front and center, but isn’t overpowering. The base tobacco is medium brown and slightly moist, and is very easy to take. Well done.
