Dholakia Sparrow (Nasal Snuff) - Review. 21 September 2021.

I recently announced that I was going to be adding nasal snuff reviews to Snubie.com.  I've used nasal snuff for about a decade now, but have never really done reviews of it.  With nicotine pouches taking over the world, I felt like we needed to do more to get tobacco out there, and nasal snuff is an enjoyable form of smokeless tobacco that I wanted to add here.  This is a product by Dholakia Tobacco in India.  This particular one is a snuff I've had some requests for, so it's one I'll be covering today.  The product description for this one says, "This unscented snuff is dry, with a fine grind.  It is similar to toasts and scotches, with a presence of unscented tobacco and an undeniable Indian presence!"  The tin weighs in at 9 grams.

Now, as far as my review goes, I've been figuring out how I want to review nasal snuff.  Each review is getting more refined over time.  So, bear with me.  I've also taken some notes from the audience on what they want me to cover, as well as input on ratings, so I think this review will be a little better than my last one.

This one comes in a square tin with a little pull tab on the side you'll open to reveal a small hole.  From there, you can dispense your snuff.  The aroma I get from the tin is a pretty neutral, earthy, simple base tobacco.  I detect a subtle sweetness, along with some floral/light Indian spice notes.  It's not too difficult to take, but it does come with a mild burn at first.  It's a finer snuff, with a dryer moisture amount.  It does touch the throat a bit, and can give a bit of a runny nose from the burn.  In the nose, for an unscented snuff I can pull a lot out of it.  The base tobacco is mild, earthy, and simple.  It has a semi-nutty character with an almost faint sweetness.  I notice a subtle Indian spice to it, perhaps a light floral character.  It almost seems to have a hint of talcum powder to it, as well.  It has a pretty decent kick of nicotine, as well.  It's moderate, and not overly strong.  First timers may feel a bit of a kick with this one, though.  In terms of longevity, it's not one that lingers around.  While reviewing it, I took pinches about 5-10 minutes apart to continue to evaluate the character of this snuff.

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one rated at 3.21/5 for me.  Sparrow is a solid snuff for those who enjoy tobacco.  I'm not one who prefers mentholated snuffs, so natural snuffs like this are right up my alley.  I'm also big into Indian spice, and I love that I can pull that subtle character from the background.  While not a brand-new beginners snuff, it's still one I'd suggest people try out if you're a lover of tobacco like I am. Dholakia makes a fine snuff, and I'll be looking forward to reviewing more of their stuff in the coming weeks.
