Recently I announced that Snubie.com is getting back to basics - and that means more tobacco content. I've had some requests to review American moist snuff/dipping tobacco, and as a tobacco enthusiast I figured what the heck, why not. I'm a snus guy, don't get me wrong. But I do enjoy all things tobacco! I still believe snus to be the best harm reduced option for smokeless tobacco enjoyment/smoking cessation. But these products are a fun break from time to time. I actually did a video on this one back in 2011, but I've never done an article on it. The Copenhagen brand itself goes all the way back to 1822. The founder, George Weyman, actually based Copenhagen off an old Swedish Snus recipe! It's made by USST (an Altria company), and contains 100% American tobacco!
Upon opening the can, I noticed notes of wood up front. I pick up hickory, and a little cedar. The smokiness comes through clearly, with a mild tobacco behind it. It's an earthy, rich tobacco character. The tobacco itself packs very well, being an extra long cut. It's moist, easy to pinch, and stays parked pretty well in the lip. In the flavor, the tobacco character is clear. It's rich, earthy, and semi-dark. I pick up subtle wood notes that remind me of hickory. It also has some smokiness in the mix, but it isn't too overly smoky. The nicotine strength feels to be around regular strength, comparable to regular snus. The flavor lasts about 45-55 minutes, on average, which is how long I usually keep a pinch in for.

Usage
Of course, American moist snuff is a fermented product. This means that you'll need to spit your saliva. Traditionally, it is put in the lower lip. However, as a snuser, I don't use it the regular way. I take a pinch (without packing the can), and throw it in my upper lip. That means less salivary gland contact and less spit. Basically, I use it like regular lös snus.

Rating and Final Thoughts
If you enjoy the taste of tobacco, this is a pretty enjoyable product. The tobacco flavor is quite enjoyable, and it tastes so much different from regular snus. I rated this one at 3.75/5. The extra long cut is a standout for me, as it provides much more control over your pinch, and if you (like me) are not a professional dipper, it definitely helps you out a bit. But taste wise, it's top notch and quite tasty for lovers of tobacco!
Disclaimer: I'm still a snus guy. If you're looking to switch from smoking to a safer form of smokeless tobacco, I still encourage Swedish Snus being that option. In my opinion, Swedish Snus is the most enjoyable, safest oral smokeless tobacco product available. Dip is a fun excursion from time to time, but I still encourage snus usage over dip usage.
