Kapten Enbär (Juniper) White Mini - Review (Discontinued). 26 April 2021.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

AG Snus has released a new mini portion in the Kapten series, this one with the flavor of juniper!  As you probably already know, I'm a big fan of Göteborgs Rapé.  I've been using it for years, and I greatly enjoy the taste of juniper.  And I've long said that if GR ever was taken off the market and I had to switch to another juniper flavored product (not that there are many others), I'd switch to Kapten Enbär.  This is a mini white version of the regular version.  I don't really use white mini portions, but I review them because I know people like them.  That, and I rarely get to review snus anymore now that nicotine pouches have taken over, so it's exciting to finally get to review a new snus product with tobacco in it!  When it comes to this one, the flavor description says, "Kapten Blå Mini White Portion has the classic taste of tobacco with clear hints of juniper, lavender and citrus".  Each can weighs 8 grams and has 20 portions, for 0.4g portions.  The nicotine content is 12.5mg/g, or 5mg/portion.

When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a mild, but smooth aroma of juniper.  I pick up a light herbal character in the mix, along with a light touch of citrus.  The portions are smaller in size, soft to the touch, and pretty comfortable.  I usually use two myself, because, again, I don't use mini portions.  The flavor is pretty mellow in nature.  I pick up a mild juniper presence, along with light floral tones, a light green herbal character, and a faint touch of citrus.  There's also a mild tobacco base in the background, but nothing too bold.  In terms of nicotine strength, it feels to be around the regular strength level.  The flavor lasts about an hour on average.

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one ended up at a 3.5/5 for me.  I think the strength and size brought it down more, because I don't really use mini pouches.  Now, if you enjoy mini pouches (especially GR) and you're looking to branch out, try this one out.  It's a pretty solid product.  Kapten's Enbar is my second favorite juniper flavor and one that I would use if GR ever vanished from the market.  If you like mini portions, this is a good one to check out!
