Epok Tropic Gold (Mini) - Review (Discontinued). 4 December 2020.

Today, we're going to be talking about a new Epok product, Epok Tropic Gold Mini!  Some of you may recall Epok, as it was a brand that used to be sold worldwide.  Epok became Lyft in most markets, but still lives on in Switzerland and Norway.  This product is one that is sold exclusively in Switzerland. This is a mini version of a larger one I reviewed before, and comes in a series of new Epok products.  These are the first mini "all white" / "white tobacco" products released.  While I don't personally use minis, there's a lot of people out there who do!  Now, let's dive a little deeper into this product!

For those unfamiliar with Epok, you may look at the photo to the left and think it looks an awful lot like Lyft!  That is true.  The cans, the portions, the material inside the portions all look very similar.  They both also contain nicotine.  However, Lyft is a nicotine pouch product, meaning it contains nicotine and no tobacco.  Epok is a white tobacco product, meaning it contains a form of tobacco.  This is how they describe it's production:  "Before the treatment, the carefully selected brown tobacco is prepared.  In the next step tobacco is treated through a washing process in order to obtain white tobacco.  This process lasts until the brown tobacco is completely cleaned into white tobacco.  When the tobacco has its all white color, it’s refined with different and fresh flavors."  So, while they may look similar, they are quite different.

As this is a mini portion, here's a quick size comparison between Epok and another BAT/F&L product - Lundgrens.  As you can see, the Epok portion is going to be smaller, as it is a mini portion.  It has a more discrete fit in the lip, but texture wise it feels very much like original portion snus or nicotine pouches, for example.

Nicotine:  8.5mg/g (0.85%) / 4.25mg/p

Review:  When you open the can, a tropic, mildly sweet aroma greets you with a presence of mango.  The portions are smaller in size, but also soft, moist, and comfortable.  The flavor is quite tasty; it is a tropical flavor with a mild sweetness.  There is a mango flavor to it, along with a fresh hint of passionfruit.  The nicotine, with two, feels about regular strength.  The flavor, on average, lasts about 45 minutes.

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one rates at 3.33 out of 5 for me.  Yes, that may sound low.  But keep in mind, I don't use a lot of mini portions.  It is a tasty snus, and I really enjoy it.  It's also great with a beer.  While not a product that is for me personally, I can still say that it's a tasty product.

That being said, if you're a lover of mini portions, you may really enjoy this one.  It's a clean, white tobacco experience, with a unique flavor, and a nice freshness!
