Sting Free Snus Receives US and EU Patent Approvals. 2 September 2020.

Back in 2016, I had the honor of being the first person to interview Bengt Wiberg about his new creation, Sting Free Snus. Over the years, I watched his enthusiasm for this product grow, and witnessed him fight for snus legalization in the EU through his EU For Snus movement. In 2017, we met for the first time at Snus Con 2017, and I got to watch him present Sting Free Snus to an enthusiastic crowd of snusers from all over the US.  Needless to say, I've been following Sting Free Snus with excitement for quite some time.  If you're not familiar with Mr. Wiberg and Sting Free Snus, do check out his video presentation from Snus Con, or his website, StingFreeSnus.com.  I'll quote from his press release in giving the background on his innovation.  Sting Free Snus is "a new and improved pouch technology wherein one side of the pouch is impermeable to liquids. Products that can utilize this technology include snus, moist snuff, tobacco-free nicotine pouches, CBD etc. This allows manufacturers of pouched oral nicotine products to easily create new products with vastly different characteristics than those currently on the market. Chief of these new attributes is that the impermeable side removes the stinging sensation on the users’ gums that is common to most of these products. In addition, the technology also allows manufacturers to enhance flavors, pH levels and nicotine release profiles of their pouch products. The Sting Free technology has already been successfully produced in a prototype series using unmodified industrial snus packaging machines."

So, what's the big news, and why am I writing about Sting Free Snus again?  Well, Sting Free Snus has received patent approvals in the US and the EU!  These patent authorizations will allow Sting Free snus to begin licensing negotiations in Europe and North America for manufacturing and wholesale partners. As of August, 2020, they have signed pre-licensing agreements with both Swedish and foreign manufacturers of snus and nicotine pouch products. They already have a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Swedish Match.  It looks as though the future is quite bright for Sting Free Snus!

The ultimate question, and the one I'm sure many of you are asking, is this - when can I buy a product with the Sting Free technology?  I'm not sure when we will see Sting Free Snus released, but this news is the kind of thing that makes me think "sooner, rather than later".  I've known Bengt for several years now, and I know how fired up he is about his product, and I couldn't be more excited for him to receive this patent approval.  I'll continue to follow this closely and keep you informed of any new developments.  Congratulations to Bengt Wiberg, and the team at Sting Free Snus!
