I've always enjoyed Thunder Raspberry. I reviewed the
Thunder Extra Strong Raspberry snus and
Thunder Ultra Strong Raspberry snus and found both to be very tasty! Unfortunately, the extra strong version is no longer produced, but the ultra strong version is still on the market! V2 Tobacco has decided to bring that flavor to the chew bag world in an ultra strong, original portion version! This is interesting, because most chew bags come in the white portion format. However, V2's Ultra Strong chew bag products come in the original portion variety. When it comes to the
flavor description for these it says, "
Thunder Ultra Very Raspy Chew has a very sweet taste of raspberry." This product comes in a 17.6 gram can with 24 portions for 0.73 gram portions. The nicotine content is 22mg/g (2.2%), which breaks down to 16.13mg/portion.

my video on it that explains more in depth differences. Basically, this is how V2 describes them: "
The tobacco leaves are heated and moistened with steam so they can be cut into smaller pieces. The tobacco for Thunder Chewing Bags are pieces cut with a length of between 5 - 50 mm and a width of 0.6-0.8 mm. The bags used are specially designed to be chewed to release flavor and nicotine. It is made from a paper with a special weave which which is thicker and much stronger than the type of bag that snus is packed in. Thunder Chewing Bags are also fundamentally different from the other chewing tobacco products on the market by being cut tobacco in small bags while others are made from spun tobacco." What's interesting about these is that they're the original portion version, whereas most chew bags are the white portion version. You can see that they don't look too much different from regular snus. The tobacco inside, however, is the main difference you can see in the picture, as the chew bag tobacco is cut and the snus tobacco is ground. And though it's said that you can chew these bags, I never do.
When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is a gentle smell of raspberry, a mild sweetness, and a hint of tobacco. The chew bags are, as mentioned earlier, the original format, so you get a quick release of flavor and nicotine! The portion material also feels really nice in the lip. When it comes to the flavor, it's a pure, straightforward raspberry taste. There's a light touch of sweetness, but it's not over the top. It reminds me a lot of raspberry jam or raspberry preserves. There's also a very light tobacco character in the background. The flavor also lasts a good amount of time. With most original portion snus I can enjoy it for up to 45 minutes, but with these I feel like I can keep them in for almost an hour! The nicotine strength is also quite strong. Though it breaks down to 16.13mg/portion, it still feels stronger than an extra strong. This product certainly delivers a strong kick!
If you're into fruit flavored products products and want something with a lot of nicotine, I definitely suggest giving these a try! V2's raspberry flavor is a must try!
