Jakobsson's Melon Strong: (Slim White) - Review (Discontinued). 12 May 2015.

It's been almost 3 years since I've reviewed this product, so I figured it was time to revisit it! The Gotlandssnus line recently went through a redesign, so I've been revisiting the entire line. What's most interesting about this one is that the last time I reviewed it the can said "Dry White". This time, the can simply says "Slim". However, I checked and the total can weight/portion count has remained the same, so perhaps they just simplified the name. The flavor description for this product says, "Jakobssons Melon is a strong snus with a fruity and sweet melon flavor; the portions run less than original ones and have a great fit under the lip." The can weight is still 13 grams and there are 22 portions in the can, which breaks down to 0.65 gram portions. The total nicotine amount is 14mg/g (1.4%), which breaks down to 9.10mg/portion.

The product itself doesn't appear to have changed. When you open a can of Jakobsson's Stark Melon Slim White a clear and fruity aroma of watermelon comes through. As I noted last time, the portions are not as dry as other "white dry" portions I've experienced in the past. These are much closer to regular white portions than dry white portions, to be honest. One thing I've noted a lot in the past with white portions is that the flavor comes on a lot slower, but that isn't the case with this one. The flavor comes on quite quickly! The taste is very close to their other melon products - a refreshing and slightly sweet fruity taste of melon with a little hint of pear. It's not sickly sweet like one would expect of a "fruity" flavored snus, it's actually pretty natural tasting. The sweetness isn't overpowering and it doesn't detract from the flavor of the snus at all. The nicotine on this one feels firmly at the strong level and provides a nice extra kick! The flavor also lasts a solid amount of time; I've found with this snus I can keep it in for a little over an hour!
