General White Portion. In September of 2009, the taste finally clicked with me after initially being turned off, and I was a General addict for life. In 2013, I tried General Tailored White Portion and was very impressed. The can looked awesome, the slim portions felt great, the portion material was extra soft - it was General White Portion, perfected. When I heard that Tailored was being dropped in exchange for XRANGE, I was a little bummed, to say the least. But I can understand their reasoning for solidifying a product line under XRANGE. From a business perspective, it makes sense.
product description for General XRANGE Slim Large White says, "A mellow tobacco taste with distinct notes of bergamot and citrus, along with hints of tea.
General Slim White has a long and narrow pouch for an optimized fit under the lip. Dry on the surface to prevent dripping, and with an extensive release of flavor.
XRANGE is a new snus series consisting of five products with well-known flavours from the Swedish Match brand collection. Thanks to a new technology the portions are long lasting with minimal drip."
When I opened a can of the new XRANGE General White, I noticed the aroma of citrus was more present than in the old General Tailored White Portion. As far as the taste goes, it really doesn't seem to have changed any from General Tailored White to General XRANGE Slim Large White. The flavor of bergamot and citrus is front and center, there is a mild tobacco taste in the background, a spicy pepper taste and a slight presence of salt. I tried to find any subtle variations between the two when it came to flavor, but there really isn't much to speak of. The taste is pretty much identical to General Tailored White. Which is a good thing, because it's a tasty snus.
