G.3 General Extra Strong White - Review. 16 September 2014.

The General G.3 brand originally launched in 2014, and was a pretty big deal at the time.  General 3 was said to be the next big innovation in General Snus. First came the original General Loose in 1866. Then came the portion snus format in 1977. And now, Generation 3 (G3) by General in 2014. The main focal points was that this was to be a perfect snus - Extra Strong, Slim Fit, Long Lasting, Soft Fit, Minimal Drip. All these were results of a Norwegian focus group that pinpointed what snusers were looking for.  And from those developments came the Generation 3 (G3) line by Swedish Match.  The flavor description for this one says, "A heavy and spicy tobacco taste with distinct notes of bergamot and green herbs, along with hints of tea and hay".  Each can weighs 21.6g and has 24 portions, for 0.9g portions.  The nicotine strength is 18mg/g (1.8%), or 16.2mg/portion.  

When you open the can, you'll notice the familiar General aroma.  You know, that traditional, citrusy taste with the spicy tobacco base.  There is a present, but mellow, aroma of bergamot.  I notice subtle hints of pepper, along with an earthy tobacco base.  The portions are slim, soft, and I find them comfortable under the lip with a great fit.  In the flavor profile, it's pretty tasty.  It's General, but more mellow.  There is a mild balance of bergamot and tobacco.  The bergamot pairs well with the earthy tobacco base, which is accentuated by hints of pepper!  The nicotine on this one has a solid kick, and delivers at the extra strong level.  The flavor lasts about an hour on average.  Sometimes, a little bit more!

Rating and Final Thoughts

All in all, not a bad snus!  It's a little stronger than I prefer, but it has the General taste in a comfortable, slim, white portion format.  I rated this one at 3.46/5.  I've long been a fan of the G.3 series, though I wish they made regular strength versions.  I find the bergamot taste more present in the G.3 series than in the XRANGE series, so it's certainly an appealing one for those who like the traditional snus flavor profile.
