Nick & Johnny: Red Hot (Xtra Strong) Review. 7 February 2012.

Review Updated: 23 March 2018:

Nick and Johnny: Red Hot has always been a favorite of mine, ever since I first tried it in 2012.  It's a very unique snus!  The flavor profile is very interesting, the size of the portion is different from other products, and the burn you get in the lip is not common of most snus products! The flavor description for this snus says, "This member of the Nick and Johnny family is a Snus with a medium-bodied tobacco character with clear hints of chili."  This product comes in a 22 gram can with 20 portions for 1.1 gram portions! Like I said, these are quite different because they’re very plump. The nicotine content is 14mg/g (1.4%) which, with larger portions, delivers 15.40mg of nicotine per portion!

I rarely show a products old can design when doing a review, but with this one I wanted to because this is one of very few products I will say I miss the old design of.  For some reason, Radical Red was a cool name to me.  Yeah, it sounds goofy, and probably is a little silly for a snus name, but it worked for me.  The new design is great, don't get me wrong, but I loved the old name.

When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is is a bold smell of cinnamon, clove, and mild tobacco. The portions, as mentioned earlier, are plump and really fill out the lip! Another interesting thing about this snus is that you get a nice burn in the lip which isn't common of most snuses! The taste, well, if you've ever had Red Hots before, it tastes a lot like those. It's a present flavor of cinnamon, some pepper, a mild tobacco taste, and a hint of clove. It tastes delicious! The nicotine feels to be right between the strong and extra strong level. The flavor lasts about as long as most original portions; usually I can keep these in for around 45 minutes.

This is a snus I definitely suggest trying if you've never had it.  It's truly one of a kind and has a fantastic flavor.
