Toque Snus. 25 January 2011.

In November 2009, Toque Snuff started scouting out ideas and feeling out the idea of producing snus. I talked to Roderick from Toque Snuff yesterday a little about the upcoming snus project and he let me in on some details about what's to come in 2012! First, the picture to the left isn't any concept of theirs or a reflection of what the product will actually look like, just my concept idea of what it probably could look like. Roderick remarked to me that Toque Snus will initially be a loose product - much like Gringo Snus is doing, teesting the waters before moving forward with portions. For those of you who don't know, portion making machines are very, very, very expensive, and loose is a great way to test the waters and see how consumers respond to your product. When I asked him about any possible flavors that might come forth he remarked, "I would like to do what we did with Snuff in the Snus world, radical flavours, modern image but I think we’ll play it less impudently and start with more conservative flavours." They are taking feedback from snusers as to what flavors we'd like to see, so sound off in the comments below or comment on this article on our Facebook Page with your thoughts and what you'd like to see!

Though I haven't reviewed much snuff (that's on my to do list which is currently 3.2 miles long), I've been a long time fan of Toque. They bring truly interesting flavors to the market that no one else is doing, off the top of my head I'll mention Cheese & Bacon. Their Spanish Gem snuff is also a long time favorite of mine. I look forward to seeing what they have up their sleeve in 2012 and trying a snus from a company that has established themselves as a very customer oriented company.

  1. I know Roderick is a formulating whiz but I doubt it will be remotely easy to match aromas/flavors from his current snuff line. Snuff and snus are, I can only assume, extremely different animals and lots of experience manufacturing one will likely have little bearing on making the other. R will likely have better luck with what he is calling "more conservative flavors", whatever those are exactly, but whatever they turn out to be there are going to be a lot of folks eager to try them.
