Taboca White (Extra Strong) - Review. 6 January 2012.

Review Updated: 8 April 2018

As many of you know, GN Tobacco recently purchased SPT (Scandinavian Premium Tobacco), so I've been revisiting the SPT product line to see if any of these products have changed.  So far, I haven't noticed any changes with any of these products so it appears GNT is still producing SPT products as they were produced the last time I reviewed them! When it comes to the flavor description for this product it says, "Taboca Extra Strong has a flavor of tobacco, bergamot and fig." This product comes in a 13 gram can with 15 portions for 0.87 gram portions. The nicotine content is 16.5mg/g (1.65%) or 14.30mg/portion.

First, let's address the elephant in the room. This is a product called Taboca White (Extra Strong). Now, it has been a few years since I had this product last. When I opened this can, I completely forgot what the portions looked like. I had to go back and revisit my old photos to realize they look the same as they used to. Yes, this is a product called Taboca White, but the portions look a lot like original portions. I'm not sure why.

So, if you've had Taboca White Portion, you'll find this product is virtually identical, but with more nicotine. The aroma is a mild tobacco smell, a little citrus, and a touch of spice. The portions are obviously not white portions, but they do appear to be less moist than Taboca Original Portion, if that counts for anything. They’re comfortable in the lip, and do release flavor slower than an original portion, but also last longer than an original portion. The taste is a mild, gentle tobacco flavor with a mild citrus character. In the background there’s a hint of fig, a light pepper taste, and a nice little salt balance. The nicotine on this one feels to be between a strong and an extra strong; you’ll notice a nice extra kick with it, but it’s not too over the top. The flavor lasts about 55 minutes, which is longer than an original portion, but not as long as your usual white portion.

Taboca is an interesting tasting snus, and one I suggest trying if you've never had it before!
