Oden's Extreme Portion - Review. 16 April 2011.

In 2011, a new tobacco companied called GN Tobacco set out to do something unheard of: to make the world's strongest snus.  Weighing in at 22mg/g of nicotine, this was the first snus released that could be classified as "ultra strong".    While it's no longer the strongest snus in the world, it certainly set off a race to the top that still continues to this day.  This snus was an early favorite of mine, and one I still enjoy from time to time.  It is certainly in my favorite in the Oden's brand.  It's too strong for me to use full time, but it's something I still keep in my freezer!  The flavor description says, "Oden's Extreme has a spicy and robust tobacco flavor".  This snus comes in a 20g can with 20 portions, for 1 gram portions.  The nicotine content is 22mg/g (2.2%), or 22mg/portion!

Okay, let's go to the Extreme and talk about this snus!  When I open the can, the aroma that comes through is a dark, rich tobacco smell along with spicy hint of pepper.  The portions themselves are dark, moist, and plump, and come with a quick release of flavor!  They're also quite comfortable under the lip.  The flavor is quite delicious.  The tobacco taste is front and center, and it comes through in a rich, dark, present way.  It's a spicy tobacco taste, with nice tones of pepper.  Sometimes I can pick up a faint citrus in the background, but mostly it's tobacco and pepper for me.  The nicotine level feels firmly at the extra strong level; this is not a snus for the faint of heart!  The flavor, on average, lasts about 40-45 minutes.

Rating and Final Thoughts

This snus has been a favorite of mine for a long, long time now.  I rated it at 4.08 out of 5.  If this one was a regular strength, it would be almost perfect.  If you've never had this one before, you owe it to yourself to check it out.  I know GN gets a lot of hate because of their Siberia products, but its good to remember they also make a lot of great products, like this one, Islay Whisky Snus, Olde Ving Original, and others!  If you've never had it, go grab yourself a can!
