Oden's Extreme Loose. Review. 28 April 2011.

In 2011, a new tobacco companied called GN Tobacco set out to do something that no one else had done before.  To make the world's strongest snus.  Weighing in at 22mg/g of nicotine, this was the first snus released that could be classified as "ultra strong".  Before all this 43mg+ snus on the market, Oden's Extreme was the top of the food chain.  I always liked this one, not so much for the strength, but for the flavor profile.  It truly is a tasty loose snus, but more on that shortly.  The flavor description says, "Oden's Extreme has a deep, spicy, pure tobacco flavor and with a nicotine content of 22mg/g, Oden’s Extreme is one of the world’s strongest snus! Expect the unexpected!" This snus comes in at a nicotine content of 22mg/g of nicotine.  The can weighs 40 grams, so a little lighter than some of the other loose products on the market.

I've enjoyed this one for quite a while, so revisiting it is like revisiting an old friend.  When it comes to tobacco centric snus products, this is one of the best ones around, in my opinion!  When you open the can you'll notice a dark, spicy, peppery aroma of tobacco!  The loose itself is pretty moist, and easy to bake.  It's quite soft, and feels great in the lip.  The flavor is top notch.  It has a rich tobacco taste.  It's dark in nature, slightly spicy, but with a present, peppery tone to it.  It's lightly smoky, but not overly smoky.  The strength depends on how big you bake, honestly.  A one gram prilla packs quite a kick, so anything over that is up to you.  The flavor, on average, lasts about 40-50 minutes!

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one rated at 3.92/5.  It's a great snus.  When you think of GNT and Odens, mint often comes to mind. But, they make some pretty good traditional flavored product, as well.  If this one wasn't as strong, I'd honestly keep it around and use it a lot more often.  The tobacco base is great, but that peppery part of it is what really sets it apart from other products on the market.  If you like tobacco centric snus and want to try something new, give this one a go!
