Jakobsson's Wintergreen (Strong) - Review. 8 May 2010.

The day is upon us and Jakobsson's Wintergreen Strong Portion (by Gotlandssnus AB) has been released.  If you've been following this blog/website long, or know me personally, you know I'm not the biggest fan of Wintergreen. But I had to review this, because I'm a huge fan of Gotland's. They are one of few companies that I celebrate their whole catalog with much joy. Would this be any different, being a wintergreen product? We shall see. The flavor description says, "Jakobsson's Wintergreen Strong Portion Snus is a sweeter wintergreen snus designed for the American market flavor profile."

Opening the can, you'll notice how incredibly moist the portions are.  The aroma is Wintergreen, but not "in your face" Wintergreen like I'm used to.  It's actually kind of pleasant and is pretty mild in nature. The portions are very comfortable in the lip; a little burn at first but it doesn't last too long.  It comes with quite a kick though. This being a Strong portion, that is expected. And the taste? It's actually pretty good! I'm not a fan of Wintergreen, but Gotland's has made a Wintergreen snus that is so pleasant and enjoyable, I think everyone can enjoy it. The taste is mild, wintergreen, and slightly sweet with a very gentle salt balance, but not too much - it all mixes together very well. A big kudos to the folks at Gotland's!  Even though I'm not a fan of wintergreen, I still enjoyed this one!

  1. How do you compare them to General wintergreen?

  2. Well, I'm not a fan of Wintergreen, I find General Wintergreen and Thunder Wintergreen to taste too much like American Wintergreen, which I don't like. I find the new Gotland's Wintergreen to taste more mild, it's a more level flavor, and for someone who doesn't like Wintergreen to enjoy it, I think Gotland's did something great!
