Jakobsson's Fläder - Review. 19 May 2009.

This was one of the very first snus products I ordered and quickly became a favorite of mine. If you're new to snus, or an American like me, you're probably asking yourself what "fläder" is. This snus was originally called "Gotlandssnus Green" or "Gotland's Green" and is a snus flavored with elderflower. The product description says, "Jakobssson's Flader Portion Snus brings back Gotlandssnus Flader (or as American's lovingly called it "Gotlandssnus Green") for all those who miss it and who never got to try it. Flader is the Swedish word for Green. This snus highlights fresh green plants, elderflower, and tobacco."

When you open the can, the aroma that comes through resembles green apple but with a touch of sweetness. There's also a very light herbal/floral nature to it. I'm a big fan of the Gotlandssnus portions. They seem to fall right between original portions and white portions. They have the quick flavor release that I love about original portions, but the long last flavor that I love about white portions! The flavor is very enjoyable. I pick up a light taste of apple and a little bit of pear. There's a very mild taste of tobacco in the background which is complemented by light herbal notes and a sweet floral presence.   It's a great tasting snus!  This is definitely one that I would enjoy in the summertime.  This is a regular strength nicotine snus, so if you're a lover of extra strong snus, you may not get the nicotine kick from this one you're looking for.  The flavor also lasts quite a while; I'm able to enjoy this snus well past the hour mark, which is pretty impressive for an original portion!

This snus is one of my favorites and I would definitely suggest anyone who loves good Swedish Snus to give it a try!
