General Slim (White Portion) Snus Review. 11 March 2026.

Today, we're checking out the new-ish General Slim White!  I say new, because this is technically what became of General XRANGE Slim White after Swedish Match discontinued it.  This is actually the second evolution, because General XR Slim White originated from General Tailored Slim White, which launched in 2013.  The flavor description for this one says "Light tobacco character with clear hints of bergamot and citrus, as well as a hint of tea".  Each can weighs in at 16g, and has 20 portions, with each portion weighing 0.8g.  The Swedish Match site doesn't have a nicotine strength listed for this one.  I see retailers online have it listed as anywhere between 8.5-9mg/g, which means it sits around 6.8-7.2mg per pouch.  Now, let's check out the taste!

Opening the can, this captures the classic, traditional presence of General Snus.  I pick up the tart, citrusy aroma of bergamot, along with some spicy notes of pepper, and a mild tobacco base.  The portions are slim, soft, and semi-dry.  Under the lip they have a nice feel, and a gradual release of flavor.  The taste is quite good.  The bergamot flavor is front and center, and is slightly tart.  The tobacco base is earthy, and present.  There's also some spicy pepper notes.  It's a well rounded, traditional experience.  In the nicotine strength, it feels to sit around the regular level.  It has a gradual, gentle release of nicotine.  The flavor lasts quite a while; usually I keep a portion in of this one up to an hour, sometimes more.

Rating and Final Thoughts

This one hasn't changed in any way except for the name, so it retains the same rating as last time, 3.67/5.  I really enjoy this one, it's one I use all the time.  I'm sad that SM/PMI didn't keep around the old General XR Slim Original, but this one works okay in it's absence!  If you like traditional snus, this is one to check out.
