It's been a while since I've had these. I remember doing a preview of them in 2020, and reviews of them in 2021. However, not long ago I was told they were discontinued. They were gone for a while, and now they seem to be popping back up. I found these recently on SnusMe.com. I also noticed that ThunderNP.com is back up, and has some new flavors as well as some old ones. If you're not in Europe it's hard to see, but Archive.org has a pull from it. So, these are made by Swedish Match. Back in 2017, Swedish Match purchased their competition, V2 Tobacco, then basically shut down all their snus products and made their once shining snus brand, Thunder, into a nicotine pouch brand. I know, that one hurt. So, if you've never had these before, let me tell you about them. Each can weighs 16.8 grams and has 21 pouches, weighing 0.8g each. The nicotine content is 15mg/g, or 12mg/pouch. Many of these flavors you've probably already had before in the Zyn (Sweden) series, or in the Volt (Sweden) series.
Flavor Description: "A refreshing mint-berry flavor".
My Review: This product isn't any different from last time I had it, so I'll share my review from last time. "When you open the can, a present smell of menthol comes through along with a dark berry smell. It reminds me of a mix of black currant and grape. The pouches are a lot like Zyn, and feel pretty soft and comfortable in the lip with a moderate moisture amount. You get a burn when you put one in the lip, and then a gentle cooling presence. In terms of the flavor, it's a dark berry taste, which reminds me of grape and black currant. It also has a strong presence of menthol in the background, which adds a refreshing presence to the flavor profile. The nicotine strength feels about the strong level, and the flavor lasts between 40 to 45 minutes on average".
Thunder Deep Freeze
Flavor Description: "A refreshing menthol-eucalyptus flavor".
My Review: Again, same thing as last time, so I'll share my review from then. "When you open the can, you're hit in the face with menthol. It hits like a truck. It's a present, strong, focused aroma of menthol. It has a little sweetness to it as well. The portions remind me a lot of Volt, or the moist Swedish Zyn pouches. They're slim, moderately soft, semi-moist, and pretty comfortable in the lip. They have a light burn at first, then a cooling sensation. In the flavor, it's a present, focused flavor of menthol. It has a light sweetness to it, as well. The nicotine strength feels about the strong level, maybe a little above. In terms of flavor longevity, it lasts about 40-45 minutes on average. About average for most nicotine pouches".
Thunder Apple Mint
Flavor Description: "A fresh mint-apple flavor".
My Review: And again, same thing as last time for this one, so here's that review. "When you open the can, a fresh green apple smell comes through along with a hint of mint. The pouches are like the regular Zyn pouches. They're moderately moist, pretty soft and comfortable in the lip, and come with a light cooling presence when you put one in. The flavor of green apple is the most present component, and a subtle hint of mint comes through in the background is a nice compliment. In terms of strength, it feels about the strong level. I find the flavor, on average, lasts about 40-45 minutes."
Rating and Final Thoughts
My ratings haven't changed since last time, so you can find those below. Apple Mint at 3.33/5, Dark Frost and Deep Freeze tied at 3/5. These are identical from last time I had them, so if you've had them before, you'll find these to be the same as last time. I don't know what the plan is with the Thunder brand. When it launched, these flavors were the same as with Zyn, and Volt. Now that Volt is gone, it isn't so redundant. So if you like nicotine pouches, give these a go!
