Back in March, I reviewed a new Moose Nicotine Pouch product called Polar Freeze. Today, I have their more traditional one to check out, Gotland Classic. I am a fan of the Moose's snus line, and their new nicotine pouch line has been impressive, too. While most nicotine pouches are slim, and all white, these are much closer to regular snus. If you aren't aware, the FDA in the US is at war with traditional snus. Many consumers have been trying to figure out what to use instead of snus, and nicotine pouches don't exactly fit the bill because they don't yield an experience like snus. These are about the closest I've found in a non-tobacco format. In regard to this one, the flavor description says "a light tobacco character combined with bergamot and elements of smokiness". But remember, these are tobacco free. Let's see what's in the can.
The can weighs 14 grams and has 20 pouches, at 0.7g each. The nicotine content is 8mg/g, which breaks down to 5.6mg/pouch. What is interesting is that these pouches look a lot like regular white portion snus. I've been reviewing snus for almost 16 years now, and if you showed me these, I honestly might think they were actual snus. But, if these don't contain tobacco, what is inside the pouch? On the bottom of the can, it notes that this contains yerba mate extract. Yerba mate is a type of plant used to make an herbal drink. Yerba mate, the drink, contains caffeine, but I was told these products do not contain caffeine. To date, I've never had a product that has this filler, but it works quite well. We'll touch on that in the review. So, let's dive into it and check these out!

So, what is the product itself like? Not bad! When I open the can, I notice a light aroma of bergamot. Behind it, an earthy, tea-like character, along with subtle notes of pepper. The pouches are nice and plump, semi-moist, and pretty soft to the touch. Under the lip, they feel a lot like a regular snus white portion! If you compared these to the Moose Gotland Classic Snus, you'd see how similar they are! In the flavor profile, it's a pretty well rounded, traditional taste. It has an earthy, tea-like base with some peppery notes. The bergamot flavor is mild, and melds well with the other taste components. In the nicotine department, this one is pretty mild, and has a steady release to it. The flavor lasts quite a while, almost up to an hour!
Rating and Final Thoughts
In the end, I was pretty impressed with this. Probably one of the best nicotine pouches I've had to date. I rated it at 3.88/5. Keep in mind, that may sound lower, but usually with nicotine pouches if they rate over a 3, I consider them to be a "good" product. It's very rare that I rate any close to a 4, so that should tell you this is a good one. I definitely think it's a good snus alternative if you're switching from snus to tobacco-free pouches.
