The Moose Polar Freeze (Nicotine Pouches) - Review. 31 March 2025.

If you're in the US, like me, you probably noticed the FDA war on snus products.  If you're not familiar with the brand "The Moose", I've reviewed a lot of their snus products.  Unfortunately, no stores are shipping them to the US anymore.  I was recently browsing around on SnusMe.com and saw some Moose products available and got confused for a second, then I saw they were nicotine pouches.  So, curious as I am, I ordered some of these Polar Freeze ones to check out.  They also have a nicotine pouch version of their Gotland Classic, and another mint one.  The flavor description for this one says a "fresh and intense taste of mint".

When I opened this up and looked at the pouches, I was quite surprised.  The can weighs 16 grams and has 20 pouches, at 0.8g each.  Which is a little bigger than your average nicotine pouch.  The nicotine content is 16mg/g, which breaks down to 12.8mg/pouch.  But that isn't the interesting part.  These pouches look just like regular white portion snus.  I've been reviewing snus for 16 years, and if you showed me these, I honestly might think they were actual snus.  But what exactly is this filler material?

A lot of people have asked me what's in these, so here's the bottom of the can label.  On the bottom of the can, it notes that this contains yerba mate extract.  Yerba mate is a type of plant used to make an herbal drink.  The drink contains caffeine, but I was told these products do not contain caffeine.  To date, I've never had a product that has this filler, but it works quite well.  We'll touch on that in the review.

Well, if you're as curious about this stuff as I was, let's check it out and see what it's all about!  Opening up the can, I pick up a sharp, present, and lightly sweet aroma of peppermint.  The pouches are quite nice.  They're plump, soft, and feel just like regular white portion snus.  Under the lip, they also have a nice mouthfeel.  In the flavor profile, I get a nice mint Tate.  The peppermint is lightly sweet, and present.  It's also relatively smooth in the flavor profile.  In the nicotine strength, it feels about regular.  It has a slow, steady delivery, much like you get from a tobacco snus.  The flavor lasts about an hour on average, which is incredible for a nicotine pouch.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I rated these at 3.71/5.  Usually with nicotine pouches, anything above a 3 is a good score.  I don't think I've ever rated a nicotine pouch above a 4.  The highest non-Snubie nicotine pouch product I've rated is Lundgren's Höståker, at 3.92/5, so that tells you this is a high score.  If this one had a flavor I liked more, the rating could go up to a 4.04/5, which tells you how impressed I am with this portion format.  So, if you can't get snus, these are a great option!
