About a month ago, I posted about incoming Grizzly Nicotine Pouches. These had an interesting marketing pitch to them that I haven't seen anyone else do before. They were said to be "Nicotine Pouches For Men". Why nicotine pouches need to be gender specific, who knows. I know men and women who use them. But, anyways. When I first heard that, my assumption was that these would be something new, and different. I was hoping for something like Ace X Cosmic, with a plump, full size pouch. Or, even the Lundgren's Nicotine Pouches with their plump pouches, since these products are technically in the BAT family, same as Lundgren's. Now, did that happen? Well, read on, my friends.
To answer the above question, nope. Here you can see the pouches inside the can. Each can weighs 8.1 grams and has 20 pouches, meaning these weigh just 0.41 grams each. They're small, and incredibly dry. In short, these are the exact same as the US Velo nicotine pouches. Spoiler alert. As those are made by the same manufacturer, it seems that they simply took US Velo Spearmint, US Velo Peppermint, and US Velo Wintergreen and relabeled them as Grizzly Nicotine Pouches and boom, there you go. Now, if you've never had these before, I'll still do a full review. One note, I've only found these in 7mg nicotine strength. I'm not sure if that's the only strength these come in, but that's the same strength as Velo Max. Now, on to the reviews!
Grizzly Nicotine Pouches: Peppermint
Grizzly Nicotine Pouches: Spearmint
Opening the can, the aroma is a light, mild, sweet aroma of peppermint. The pouches are quite dry, small, and not super comfortable in the lip. You do get a little cooling presence when you put one in due to the mint in the recipe. In the flavor department, it's kind of a "base" peppermint. It's very simple and basic, lightly sweet, but doesn't really stand out too much. The nicotine strength is pretty light, though it says 7mg, to me it feels pretty low, almost like a 3mg Zyn. The flavor doesn't last too long, usually about 30 minutes or so.
Grizzly Nicotine Pouches: Spearmint
With this one, I get a pretty smooth, lightly sweet, mild aroma of spearmint. Under the lip, the pouch is the same, no difference in mouthfeel. Flavorwise, it's a pretty standard spearmint. It's light and mild in nature, and comes through in a lightly sweet, smooth way. Nicotine strength and flavor longevity is the same on this one as the last one.
Grizzly Nicotine Pouches: Wintergreen
Again, with this one, the way the pouch feels in the lip, nicotine delivery, and flavor longevity is going to be the same. The only real difference with this one is going to be in the aroma and flavor department. So, let's crack a can and see. Once I open this one up, I notice a presence of wintergreen that is pretty much the standard American wintergreen you'd expect. It's gentle, and sweet. The flavor on this one, and the last two, always seems to come through milder than the aroma presence. The wintergreen taste is mild, gentle, and sweet. Not super present, but not super weak.
Rating and Final Thoughts
So, in the end, these products weren't that great. They were much like the US Velo products. The pouches were small, the flavors were very mild, and the strength didn't deliver much. I'm not trying to be hard on US products on purpose, it's just that the nicotine pouches sold here aren't very satisfying compared to the ones made in Europe (that us folks in the US can order online). Spearmint came out on top at 2.5/5, Wintergreen next at 2.42/5, and Peppermint last at 2.33/5.
Like I always tell folks in the US, check out some of the variety you can get online. There are much better products. I wrote up a list of great ones, including better spearmint, wintergreen, and peppermint options. If you check out SnusMe.com, where I order most of my stuff, they have a TON of nicotine pouches, like hundreds of them. But in the end, these Grizzly Nicotine Pouches just didn't deliver.
