Some of you may remember a snus product from a little while back called G3 Volt. That product was discontinued/rebranded as G3 Pow. Shortly after that, I reviewed a new product that popped up in Denmark called Volt Nicotine Pouches. It made me start to put the pieces together that Volt would most likely live on as a nicotine pouch line. Sure enough, a new line of nicotine pouches called Volt has popped up from Swedish Match. When they talk about this line, they say "Spark the unexpected! VOLT are nicotine pouches with fresh flavors in surprising combinations. Interesting new flavors in a variety of strengths, so find just your favorite and give the imagination wings." Today, we're talking about Volt Java Shake! The flavor description for this one says, "Java Shake has a taste of freshly roasted coffee beans topped with hints of cocoa and burnt sugar". Each can weighs 16.8g and has 21 portions, for 0.8g portions. The nicotine strength (on the bottom of the can) says 11mg/portion, which would be a total nicotine strength of 13.75mg/portion.
When you open the can, a mild coffee aroma comes through. It has a subtle sweetness to it, a light nuttiness, and a mild creaminess. The portions are slim, soft, moderately moist, and comfortable under the lip. In terms of flavor, it's pretty enjoyable. I don't drink coffee myself, but I do enjoy the occasional coffee flavored snus or nicotine pouch. I know, it doesn't make any sense. The coffee flavor is relatively mild in this one. I pick up a light hint of chocolate, along with a light sweetness. It's lightly creamy in nature, as well. The nicotine strength on this one feels to be around the strong level. The flavor, on average, kicks around for about 40 to 50 minutes.
Now, with most products in the Volt line, they're identical to a slim counterpart in the Zyn line. However, this one is a new flavor that doesn't have a moist/slim version in the Zyn line. The flavor reminds me a lot of the dry Zyn Coffee version sold in the US, but that's about the only similarity I can find with this one so far. Also, this one is a Level 4 strength, there's also a Level 2 strength version of it available, as well.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I rated this one at 3.33 out of 5. It's a rather enjoyable product. While I'm not a big nicotine pouch consumer, I've found that anything ranking between a 3 and a 4 is generally a "good product" for me. I've never rated over a 4, so as a product gets closer to 4 you can tell it's a good one. In terms of other coffee flavored nicotine pouch products on the market, this is one of the better ones. It's not super in your face or bold, but it's incredibly well balanced and enjoyable.
