The inclusion of Alida tobacco is interesting, because it's only grown on the island of Gotland in Sweden. That may sound familiar to many snusers, as Gotlandssnus uses Alida tobacco for their products, too. They don't really make a big deal about it anymore, but back in the day it was mentioned pretty heavily. According to a flavoring section on their website, it says this product is made with Alida tobacco, bergamot, and thyme. Each can weighs 14g and has 22 portions, for 0.63g portions. On Snusbolaget.se, they list the nicotine content as 4mg/g (0.4%), which sounds low, because that’s only 2.52mg/portion.
When you open the can, the aroma is very tobacco centric, with hints of pepper, a light herbal hint, and a grassy/hay-like presence. The portions are big, but not completely full, as they’re only 0.63g each. They seem to be white portions with very moist tobacco, as you can see it soaking through the portion itself. The portion is soft, and comfortable in the lip. The flavor is a mild, earthy tobacco taste. There are light hints of pepper, a grassy/hay-like presence, and a mild note of bergamot. It reminds me a lot of the old Gotland’s Gul (Yellow) Snus, perhaps due to the Alida tobacco. The flavor generally lasts about 50-55 minutes. I find the nicotine to be a little less strong than a regular strength product.
I enjoyed the taste of this one, and found it to be quite interesting/unique. I love supporting new/craft companies, and if this product was available to the US I'd definitely grab more when I wanted something a little different!
